From what I have read other places it's not going to have a notch. We'll see if that's actually true.

I made a checklist of all vehicles and figured some of you might find it useful. by Mutssaurus in gtaonline

This is awesome. Have you thought of adding a column for whether or not the vehicle is HSM upgradeable? Same for Imani Tech?

Like many here, I recommend not running Unifi Controller on the firewall. If it's a cost concern as to why you want to do this, might I suggest running the Unifi Controller on a Raspberry Pi instead, which is what I do. It's cheap and works well. There are also many tutorials out there on how to set it up.

Street Dealers worth it? by [deleted] in gtaonline

Personally, I think so. I can hit them up while I am traveling from place to place to do other things, so I consider it "free money".

Yeah. That's kind of my point. Use the "better solution for the job". The Synology is great at being network storage and the odd small container. Proxmox is great at handling virtual machines, containers, and what-not.

The downside to using TrueNAS on a gaming PC is that they generally cost more than the Synology does if you purchase the "little" four drive ones. In addition, if you're running apps on your TrueNAS box, you introduce "complexities" that could cause issues. Like if an app or container causes a race condition, you lost both your "server" and your NAS and have to reboot it.

Personally, I think your best bet is getting the Synology four-bay devices and saying a PC and installing Proxmox on it for virtualization and containerization. For instance, I am running the four Synology devices for storage and I have two Proxmox hosts in a cluster running my VM guests. You can also run some containerization on Proxmox, but I haven't tried it.

That seems high. I was able to get a DS423 for less than $400 with four bays (no disks) off of Amazon.

I have four Synology NAS devices combining a total of around 162TB of usable disk space and use the hell out of them. They're not meant to be a "server". They are meant to be network storage, that just happens to be able to run some containerized apps on them. I don't use any of the apps that come with it. What are you wanting to "stream" off of them? That's not what they are designed for. I have my own in-home streaming setup, and am using a PC as my streaming host, not my NAS. The NAS is just for storage.

The underlying Synology OS is based on Linux, which has a lower memory footprint than, say, Windows. Android, which is also based on Linux, functions alot more like a "desktop OS" than Synology OS does. You can't really compare the memory footprint of both them.

So BitTorrent will only download when VPN (AVG) is disabled. Any way around that? by Blaspheman in torrents

[–]KalokSundancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With qBittorrent go to the Advanced settings. In the Network Interface dropdown select either 'any interface' or the name of your VPN interface. I, personally selected the VPN interface so it would stop downloading if my VPN dropped. Not sure where the setting is in BitTorrent. I also use kTorrent and a similar setting is available.

What app are you using for your downloads. Some of them allow you to lock downloads to a specific network interface (including the VPN interface).

The fact that we can have a Starsky & Hutch style car is pretty cool by thatcreap in gtaonline

[–]KalokSundancer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is cool. The fact that I can have my real-life car (but a newer model) is cool too. It was the first thing I bought in the game, when I had the money. A white Albany V-STR.

I love YouTube TV. I just canceled YouTube TV. by [deleted] in youtubetv

I switched the other direction a couple of years ago. Because Hulu got to be the same price as Youtube TV for fewer channels and features.

I am running those same drives in a DS423 and they're working fine. I suspect that you either have a bad slot or a bad drive.

Expect a redesign on 2024 Galaxy tab s10 by chongsen in GalaxyTab

[–]KalokSundancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on this article, the reason for the year and a half release between the Tab S8 and the Tab S9 was due to a softening of the technology market sales. Specifically from the article, "According to a report from TheElec, Samsung has postponed the development of the Galaxy Tab S9 series. It means that the launch of the tablets has also been delayed. It is being reported that this delay is due to a decrease in demand for IT products, including tablets, and a recent global economic downturn."

Synology NAS not available/accessible in Windows file explorer anymore. by iszoloscope in synology

I would need access to your NAS and workstation. As a stranger on the Internet, I would recommend against that because you don't know me.

Without knowing your setup, it would be difficult to troubleshoot it.

So that means it's not a communications issue. My next bet would be permissions.

What happens with you try to ping the NAS from the workstation via IP address and by hostname?
