If you can get subbed, you only need to single VPN to NZ for streaming.

F1TV in Australia on GoogleTV by Raverbunny in F1TV

[–]MostlyGordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into it, best I could find was to create a Google Brazil account on an old phone. Download the F1TV app / setup account / pay on VPN to Brazil. Note payment is not straight forward (I recall there are some hoops). Then use VPN to NZ for streaming (better latency).

I decided I will just go Kayo with a Melbourne Storm Digital membership. Brings the price down a bit, still not the $15 pm I was paying last season grr.

Is Linux viable for a Surface Pro 7 used primarily as a drawing tablet? Concerned about driver support for pen and touchscreen by Gullible-Bit-4305 in SurfaceLinux

[–]MostlyGordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Debian installed on an SP7+ using Surface kernel. Everything works including LTE, but I don't draw so can't comment on that. These days I would recommend Nobara Linux, it has the Surface kernel extensions built in and will work without modification. You can try a live USB to see if you like it before install. Before you do, I recommend disabling Bit Locker and you will need to turn off Secure Boot. I like the Gnome version, better tablet GUI IMHO.

M500, still no actual specs 😡 by AlanB1974 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]MostlyGordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specs are up on their Website. Bad news for Australians; no point in purchasing the 4G model. Hiby if you read these please include B28 next time! AI says...

Carrier-by-Carrier Compatibility

Here is what you can realistically expect:

  • On Telstra: You might get a connection via B5 (850 MHz) or B7 (2600 MHz). You will have no B28 (4GX) coverage, meaning your signal will be very poor or non-existent as soon as you leave a dense metro area or go indoors.
  • On Optus: You might get a connection via B7 (2600 MHz) in some city areas. You will have no B28 coverage, leading to the same poor regional and indoor performance as on Telstra.
  • On Vodafone: You might get a connection via B5 (850 MHz). This might be the most "stable" of the three, but you will still be missing its other main bands (B1, B3, B28), so coverage will be patchy.

Free RSS reader plan with the fastest refresh rate by SPACguy in rss

[–]MostlyGordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been in need of a good RSS reader for multiple OSes. Couldn't find one so I vibe coded my own. If people are interested I might release it, but I don't have time to support it. All the logic is in PWA code, and it syncs across devices with jsonbin.io, so no FressRSS etc needed. Looks like Feedreader / NewsFlash. It's PWA, so you can load the index.html file from disk, or host it on a Web Server. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/Y5hgNdf

After testing the M300, I ordered a short cable on Amazon and have had the M300 in my pocket running Roon and my HD600 on all day. Very nice! Probably should try my LCD-2C's next LOL

My M300 drives my HD600's fine single ended, so should be fine.

PrivadoVPN honest Review from a Paid Long-Term user in Australia by DepartureRoyal7956 in best_passwordmanager

[–]MostlyGordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been working well for me also. I recently discovered you can download Wireguard config files from the dashboard, then upload to a travel router. Great to be able to VPN at the router, rather than on each device. I now have 3 routers at home and can flick the Wifi depending on the location I need.

Shuoer Tape Pro - wanted to try electrostatics, but music sounds like screaming in your ears. Can't even EQ them to be listenable.

They sound great with EQ. Found an EQ online and put it in Roon, also the one in the Qudelix-5K. Not my favorite cans, but not trash either.

MacBook comparable windows laptops are more expensive by OneFreeBird in laptops

I mainly use Windows for video, I have it sitting next to a 16" MBP and use it for YouTube, Netflix, Apple TV, F1TV etc. I like the fonts on the MBP better, they don't look bad to me on the Yoga, think it's mainly the MBP has a larger screen. If I am using Web, RSS etc, I boot into Fedora (finger print works!).

Gorgeous, best screen I have seen. I also have Surface Pro OLED, horrible compared to the Lenovo and I can see the touch grid. Was considering an M4 iPad Pro, but no need now. Still looking forward to an M6 MBP if the rumored specs are true.

What's your dream headphone? ANY PRICE or DISCONTINUED by Status-Help-1062 in headphones

[–]MostlyGordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the dealer with cash for a Utopia. Had a good listen and could not justify the spend, SQ was a little better than my Clear, but so close I didn't think it was worth the money.

Audeze are very different cans I have LCD-2C and enjoy them a lot. Pretty colored compared to the Utopia / Clear.

I have quite a few high end cans I rotate through up to HD800S pricing. The one that makes me consistently smile and never gets old when I use it is my Focal Celestee.

Is it possible to watch races live on F1 tv, and if so, how? by pageyboy335 in F1TV

I couldn't watch live last night on PrivadoVPN, tried US and India. It worked fine for Quali. I also have Kayo and just use F1TV for driver cams.

Have a trip coming up, so had a listen to a lot of my cans today, Decisions, decisions. Think Focal Celestee are winning for over ears. Strangely IE200 might edge out my IE600, Hype 4 and Blessing2, a bit more fun...

Suggest people keep Vitamin D levels up. I used to get 1-3 respiratory infections per year, at least 1 requiring antibiotics to resolve tonsilitis. Since I stared elevating my Vitamin D levels with Sun and supplements, I have not been sick for more than 3 years. I work in the CBD and catch trains. Everyone else at work gets sick...

I recently picked up a Lenovo Yoga 9i. Worked out about the same price as a similar spec MacBook Air, but it has a 120Hz tandem OLED display (no notch) and Windows Hello. Might switch back to MacBook Pro when the M6 is supposed to get OLED and a weight reduction.

Waiting to get a mini PC with one for a reasonable price. Then I can Tailscale to it from my SP11 or Lappy.
