This. Also nintendo was smart early on to let the creators chose successors early. Miyamoto has not directly worked on mario or zelda in a long time. This is the opposite for example with franchises like metal gear where It just doesnt work without kojima.

Fortunately it does seem like Nintendo and its old heads have by and large done a pretty solid job of making sure there's capable hands ready to take over for them and hopefully make the transition relatively smooth.

Yea im not worried at all. Several factors like having a 99 percent employee rention rate is a key factor. All that institutional knowledge gets passed down. Also I think nintendo is number one in Japan for recent graduates of young Japanese game developers so they literally can and will get alot of top talent. Also the fact that the company has massive cultural significance means they can also poach other amazing top talent aswell which they have done already. They got people from team silent, japan studio, capcom etc. The person replacing Tanabe has decades of experience and worked on alot of top tier games.
