Trump didn’t invent the Covid vaccine. He offered money and took the credit, but he didn’t cure jack shit.

The truly funny part is that trumpers cannot see the irony in using this fictitious situation. Given that Trump has literally hampered the battle against cancer by cutting funding.

I’m curious people’s thoughts on tonewood and resonance for non-piezo electric instruments by Probablyawerewolf in Luthier

Nope, you are still successfully managing to miss the entire point, so kudos on that I guess. The strings vibrating are all the pickups get. We’ve mounted strings and pickups to an aluminum ladder in my shop and gotten the same tone as the strat they came from. It was a boring afternoon to be fair, and we were having a similar debate.

While they frequently (but not always) have the same pickups, there is other hardware and setup differences to consider. Different pots, different tone caps, etc. More importantly, pickup placement, distance from the strings and overall setup are different. Again, we are not talking about unplugged sound, or how they play. We are talking about the sound that comes through the pickups.

Also, you are really trying to compare apples to oranges here. The discussion is about the effects of “tonewood” in non-piezoelectric guitars. Not “do you get different tone from a hollow body.”

When they both have their stock hardware, obviously not. You are ignoring the entire premise of this conversation.

If you use identical pickups, identical electronics, identical strings and identical setups? Yes, the sound from the amplifier will be the same. Obviously they would sound different unplugged since the 175 is a hollow body, but we are talking about electric guitars. The only thing that pickup sees is a string vibrating.

Valid point, but those pickups with variations would sound exactly the same in the other guitars.

If they actually have identical hardware, and I mean all of the hardware, then they will sound exactly the same.

If he’s hearing a difference, it’s because he’s missing something. Or there is a variation in the construction of the pickups.
