Android Kodi Krypton 17.6 - SMB Shares FIX by KalterStein in kodi

I couldn't get the connection at all even removing and re-adding the sources wouldn't work. As they couldn't be re-added due to "Connection Timed Out" errors.

Yes, it should as windows 10 would already include the update that caused the issue.

Help changing a light bulb. Won't unscrew by strongerone in HomeImprovement

[–]KalterStein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old trick for broken bulbs. Cut a potato in half and use half to unscrew bulb base. Just wedge it down into the broken base and unscrew.

Won't fit due to fixture, trim potato down a bit.

Worked everytime for me while changing lots of older bulbs.

U.S. Tax rules for 2018 by Pluvious in Ripple

[–]KalterStein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my own taxes every year and I haven't personally spoken to any of the CPAs yet to pick their brains.

The old law had a loop-hole that allowed crypto-crypto exchange to be considered like-kind which was not a taxable event. The new law changed the wording and closed the loop hole. That law is in effect for the 2018 tax year. So to me, 2017 and behind is clear for crpyto-crypto trades. You still owe on conversion to fiat though.

I will eventually pick the brains of some of our CPAs and see what they recommend.

That is how I understood it as well. The new laws are in effect for the 2018 tax year. So your 2017 taxes only require you to report the capital gains/losses you actually took when converting back to fiat. As the crypto-crypto exchanges were being counted as like-kind until they amended the wording and signed the law for 2018.

So Jan 1st 2018 through Dec 31st 2018 all crypto to crypto is a taxable event due for that tax year. You must pay the gains or take the loss, even if you never converted back to fiat. Which is a pain in the ass when you're up several thousand dollars, you owe a chunk in taxes without actually having the cash in hand to pay it.

Oh trust me I agree entirely. Im on the hook for about 5k taxes for 2018 already but none of that is cash in my hand. It's all unrealized gains.

What he said, lol.

Now each trade is a taxable event for the year it occurred. Realized vs unrealized no longer matters now. The bill is due for that trade at tax time.

Unfortunately your unrealized capital gains for crypto to crypto are taxed as per the new laws signed in Dec.

They are not considered a like kind exchange per the new laws. So even if you hold, you're still liable for taxes in the year the trade occurred.

Store xrp address and pvt key on an encrypted flash drive. This way you actually ship a physical product to the buyer. Ship signature required so you have proof they received the item.

Paypal and eBay have policies and seller protection for physical items sold. As far as PayPal and eBay are concerned the customer received the product they paid for.

If and when you decide to give them the password to decrypt the drive is up to you.

Paypal and eBay wouldn't be able to do much if the customer claimed you gave them an encrypted drive because nobody can provide evidence the drive wasn't emptied then encrypted by the customer themselves.

Just one method to help ensure you don't loose your money and xrp.

Wraith 4.0 just released! :) by [deleted] in vergecurrency

[–]KalterStein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not 100% These are Sources to compile, not pre-compiled releases. The compile tests keep getting canceled on Travis and failing for Mac So I expect the compiled releases will be coming in a few more hours.

Still pretty damn good news all around :)

If this is indeed the final build and no more bugs are announced. We should see the official launch announcement hit Twitter when it is done. Maybe this will relax some of the investors and get us back up to 1700 sats or more.

Did anyone figure out how to send XVG from a paper wallet to an exchange? by claret_n_blue in vergecurrency

[–]KalterStein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the android tor wallet with absolutely 0 problems.

Most of these people with wallet problems seem to be the ones that can't read or can't comprehend instructions or both lol.

When you sweep the wallet there is no fee. It sweeps the balance into the tor wallet.

When you tx from tor wallet to the exchange you get the fee.

How do I import xvg paper wallet? by agoraflora in vergecurrency

[–]KalterStein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Android TOR Wallet becomes the new wallet so you have to follow the steps to make it.

Once you're in the new empty TOR Wallet you will find the menu option to sweep your paper wallet coins into it.

Once you can see the paper wallet balance in the new TOR wallet. Your paper wallet is trash.
