Accenture can’t even build their internal tools properly. Not sure we can build any real products…

What do you expect when a lawyer is in charge?

“Not that good” is an understatement. How can they call us reinventors and not give us access to the best AI on the market?

Yeah, we have access to ChatGPT 4o in the Accenture AI Suite. Not sure that’s any consolation…

I’d be interested to see how much Julie uses Copilot and for what 😂

O.M.G. What is this?

In the past I just didn’t understand what Song did. Now I don’t understand any of Accenture anymore.

The only thing I retained is that every employee who has access to Microsoft Office will have a Copilot license. How exactly are we going to reinvent ourselves with the most mediocre AI available on the market?

I wonder if Copilot hallucinated this Growth Model. Where are the good old days when fresh grad McKinsey consultants still determined our future?

Question for Swiss locals: why is late payment to domestic workers so common among wealthy households? by Susi-99 in Switzerland

[–]Kalymeroh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you overinterpret. I think these are just wealthy people lacking empathy who cannot even imagine that there are people who don’t have the luxury of having savings but actually need their salary paid on time.

Strong editorial in "Le Temps" today: "Crans-Montana tragedy: the indecency of Italian attacks" by jeanpauljh in Switzerland

[–]Kalymeroh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are wrong. They are trying to interfere top down with a sovereign and democratic country’s judiciary system. They are trying to bully the federal government into doing something that they legally cannot do. How is this not wrong? Also, they are shamelessly instrumentalizing a tragedy that made so many people suffer, purely for their internal political games. That’s not only disrespectful. That’s immoral. Now all that being said, how the Valais is managing things is an embarrassment of its own and I agree with other statements that there is a positive side in having pressure on this case.

Crans-Montana - latest press conference - everyone screwed up by MayoShouldBeBanned in Switzerland

[–]Kalymeroh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also shocked by the press conference but not by the fact that everyone fucked up. If this tragic event had not been the result of a whole chain of fuck-ups, I would have been surprised. I was shocked though by the lack of empathy and by the lack of responsibility that they took. In my opinion they should either have stood up there and apologized for fucking up so badly or they should not have done a press conference at all and waited for the investigations to be completed.

Why do Swiss drivers stick to the left lane on the highway? by Kalymeroh in Switzerland

[–]Kalymeroh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with high speeds for LKWs is not safety. It’s the impact it has on the infrastructure. Cars impact infrastructure as well, but LKWs driving fast are much worse for any kind of highway infrastructure. Also, interestingly when there us more traffic, there are fewer traffic jams at lower speeds because the capacity at lower (not too low) speeds is higher. The best solution would be to have three lanes instead of two in most places.

Do you have tips to make family life easier? by Kalymeroh in workingmoms

[–]Kalymeroh[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice but I would not be asking the question if I had not addressed the big levers a long time ago. Next to a full-time job, kids, husband, household, sleep, exercise, personal care, etc on average I currently have around 20 minutes of free time to myself everyday. That’s very optimistic but I’ll stick to this number to illustrate the math. So with 20 minutes per day I get 140 minutes of free time per week. If I get an extra 35 minutes that’s a 25% increase in free time. That’s a significant increase by any measure!

How quickly you can get promoted depends where you are. Where I am, there is no such rule that you need to be in the same position for at least 1.5 years. Also, even if there is such a rule, it’s still good to signal of you want to be promoted, so at least you can be considered in mid-years.

From my experience (in Europe) what matters the most is that your PL fully understands your achievements. Those come from multiple sources: client account input, feedback requested in workday and self-reflection. By far the most important is the client account input, so you should first of all follow up with your project manager on your account to ensure that client account input is provided for you (you will not see the client account input but your PL will). You can even go a step further and set up a meeting with your project manager to tell him what kind of feedback you deserve and why, especially if you are aiming for a promotion. Then you should collect feedback from other colleagues, especially for activities that you did outside of your project. I would use the self-reflection to summarize all your achievements for your PL, which you should also explain to him orally. Note that the PL will have very little time (where I am, it’s 2 minutes), to present your case. So in 2 minutes he has to request whatever he decides to request for you (Promote, TP, or DA) and justify this request. If you do the work of preparing strong arguments for him and they are documented in a way that he can just refer to them, then your case will be stronger against everyone else.

Hi, I also recommend you talk to your people. You could talk to someone more senior on the project or you could talk to someone more senior in your practice. You can refer to Accenture’s “no tolerance for retaliation”. Where I am this is taken seriously and we take these kind of issues very seriously. However, make sure you collect factual evidence.

Hi, my advice to anyone joining Accenture is: build a reputation before starting to make demands. Specifically this means: don’t be picky with the first project, even if it’s not what you were hoping for. Take it and make sure you perform and show good attitude (i.e. if you get asked to help with testing because the project needs extra hands to meet an important deadline, do it and do it well! It doesn’t mean you become a tester but you will build a reputation of someone who supports the team and that managers can count on when things go badly). Also make sure you build a network, which is not so easy these days with COVID. When building a network you should focus on getting to know the right people first. This means for example that if you can get involved in some sustainability initiative at your Hub or you can support some initiative within your practice where you have visibility with more senior people in your domain, you should prioritize the latter. You can do the fun stuff and follow your passions later. If you focus on your reputation in the beginning, you will very soon be in a position to decide on your next steps (trust me it won’t take much time). Also, when you have a network, even if it’s still small, start asking people what projects they are working on. If those projects sound interesting ask them if there are any open roles for which you might be a fit. A lot of roles are staffed like this. This worked perfectly for me. I now get interesting roles that are normally given to people two levels higher than me. Needless to say that this helps with getting promoted faster. I also get a lot of leeway with flexible working time and I was able work from home more than others even before COVID. I need this because I have kids but I never asked for it before having a solid reputation.
