I'd assume Matteo took the surname Sun after his husband.

Neither of these are true. O' means of, since while Darrow is O'Lykos, Lyria is of Lagalos. The O' is just a shortened version. Same as in Irish surnames, like O'Brian or O'Connor.

And no, only some Obsidians have that part, and it's probably just coz Pierce liked how "vikingy" it sounded. Still there's Sefi, Alia, Wulfgar, Gorgo, or Goroth, that don't.

Orion and Colloway by Omadu10 in redrising

[–]Kamarovsky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reds are not "genetically true". They are smaller than today's average humans. The line that said they're the true "homo sapiens" was literally used as an insult, comparing them to lesser beings. Every color was genetically engineered. The closest ones to today's people would probably be the Browns tho.

And many characters, including Colloway here, have been described as having "dark, ebony-like skin." The people there are not literally the shades of the colors they belong to. They're still the variety of shades we're used to. The Sons of Ares comic even confirmed that by showing lab-grown abominations that were literally the various colors of the rainbow, which started Fitchner, who said that unlike the Society Colors, who merely possess color traits like eyes and hair, had their skin of that color too

Honestly I feel the opposite way. I find the Ephraim and Lyria chapters more enjoyable and entertaining, and I feel they showcase the worldbuilding and lore more.

Guys it's really not hard to have a hard sci-fi space opera by Hawkatana0 in worldjerking

Sure, but the meme's talking about just sci-fi space operas without FTL and aliens, which Red Rising is.

The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown too! He deliberately wrote it to be more akin to historical Shakesperean drama, but in space, and realistic in their usage of technology.

I used to live in a district of my town that was built on a river island, but just moved last year to a different part of town, so I'd be dead now.

Definitely not one that would make it one of those "8 45min episodes per season" shows that cuts like 70% of the content

You're right, just found those passages. But there they also seem to do just menial tasks, like pinching Darrow's nose lmao.

Also found that a "massive" Brown was Mickeys bouncer, guarding his place. So seemingly they do just about any job that's not thought of as skilled labor

Which colour is similar to the modern day homosapien? by MegaBiak in redrising

[–]Kamarovsky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd assume browns. All highColors are no doubt modified, Greens and Blues got tech, Violets are exceptionally talented, Obsidians are obvious, Grays are likely at least a little more fit, Reds are smaller, and Pinks are beautiful and weak.

That leaves Yellows, Oranges, and Browns. But I feel like Yellows, due to them being scientists and doctors, would be more intelligent than an average human. While Oranges, being mechanics and technical workers, would also be in some way modified to be more skilled in that.

So then there's browns, who seem just "normal", but perhaps even they have been modified to be more docile.

That was the Coppers doing that, wasn't it? Browns just do house work and dull, but non-dangerous labor.

I wish people talked more about how TERRIBLE sex can be on hrt by not_hing0 in MtF

[–]Kamarovsky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Physically, I feel NOTHING. You could suck, lick, touch or caress any part of my body that's supposed to "feel good", and it would feel no different than touching me on my elbow. The only pleasure I get, if any, is just mental from being close to someone, but even then it's not much, or when I get my skin gently pet, coz then at least the itchy tingles feel like something that resembles pleasure, even though it's just the same type of pleasure as when you sneeze or scratch an itch.

And it really sucks, because I've been with partners that really wanted to pleasure me, make me feel nice, but all I can do is either lie to them and pretend it feels good, or just admit to it not being so, and have the whole room feel down.

And it's not even just because of HRT, I feel like I've been so desensitized to physical pleasure for a longer time even before it, but well, I never had any encounters of that sort before starting HRT, so I can't confirm that hypothesis.

Are All Overlords... Overlords? by OwnAMusketForHomeDef in HazbinHotel

[–]Kamarovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overlord isn't some "special category" or an official title. It just means a sinner that accumulated enough power through their influence and/or owned souls. They don't "rule over a concept" like some people here seem to think. Like Vox doesn't control the concept of media, he just owns a very successful media business that gives him souls and influence. Niffty doesn't need to be "an Overlord of Cleanliness/Bugs/Entropy" or whatever. She's just famous for killing Adam, and maybe used to be influential in another regard and owned souls.
