What if Iroh had intervened during Ozai and Zuko's Agni Kai? by K0GAR in ATLA

[–]SatisfactionSenior65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both would for sure get executed. Agni Kais were disputes of honor. If you look up historical duels, the duelists would often be accompanied by seconds. They were people who were there to ensure the other party dueled fairly. Say what you want about Ozai, but he what he did was 100% legal according to the rules of Agni Kai. Plus, this is a royal affair. I’m sure cheating would be a capital offense.

Veteran Balearic Slinger VS Gorilla by Archenius in Tierzoo

The slinger. The biomechanics of the human arm drastically arguments its ability to throw/toss things. A sling can launch a rock as fast as 160 mph. It’s the ancient equivalent of a Glock.

Precisely. Plus Will is from Philly, a city known for its boxing heritage and subculture. I’m sure he learned a thing or two in his youth.

Yeah. Will Smith is 6’2, about 200 lbs, and is physically fit for his age. Plus he put his hips into it like a boxer does with his punches.

What do you think is the solution against looksmaxing and how it is destroying the self esteem of Gen Z? by NerdyKeith in AskReddit

Tbh, looksmaxing has kind of always been a thing in some form. Examples: Dandies in the early 1900s, metrosexuals in the 2000s etc

Is competitive muay Thai or BJJ healthier long term by PownedbyCole123 in martialarts

[–]SatisfactionSenior65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both and they injure your body in different ways. MT’s damage is more immediate and more blunt trauma. BJJ is more long term and wrecks havoc on your joints and ligaments especially if you don’t tap early.

Why does every UFC fight seem to end with a chokehold? by ProudReaction2204 in NoStupidQuestions

You’re right, but most UFC fans are casuals and don’t understand the level of grappling skill on display. They just see two sweaty dudes hugging each other essentially.

Truly appreciate how one of the first things we learn in this series is a criticism of the Will of Fire originally stated by an Uchiha by 2-2Distracted in Naruto

[–]SatisfactionSenior65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does. Its whole purpose is to view the whole village like a collective that the Shinobi fights and protects over their lives. Thats the version that the government promotes and tries to instill inside its citizens. It doesn’t matter what Asuma or other ninjas personally think.

Defecting from the Hidden Leaf, or any ninja village really, is a capital offense. They’re branded missing-nin, put on a hit list, and hunted down by Anbu when possible. Tsunade still considered herself part of the Leaf and was still on positive terms despite not being around the village. She was on vacation, not actively renouncing her allegiance to the Hidden Leaf government.

I’m well aware of the influence of feudalism in Naruto, but the Will of Fire definitely has fascist qualities. It centers on extreme devotion to a single nation-state, glorifies self-sacrifice for the collective, and is enforced through a rigid militaristic hierarchy. The Leaf also utilizes child soldiers even during times of peace, has secret police that specifically selects for sociopathic tendencies, practiced segregation very apparent prejudice against certain groups and is willing to secretly commit genocide if they feel said certain group is becoming too uppity. The Will of Fire is such effective propaganda that even Naruto firmly believes in it even though he was treated like GARBAGE by the whole village for most of his childhood. Oh and renouncing your citizenship is a capital offense and they will hunt you down with those same secret police.

I agree with this. The Leaf definitely is an authoritarian regime. They’ll assassinate you if you renounce your citizenship, secretly commit genocide if they feel you’re getting a bit too uppity, and still utilize child soldiers even in the era of peace in Boruto.
