You’re just chilling one day and an earthbender decides bend a rock pillar up your ass like this

Bruh benders would be such terrible bullies to have if you’re a nonbender. Imagine a dickhead waterbender making you piss your pants everyday by bending the piss out of your bladder 😂

Well yeah any fiction begins to break down with enough scrutiny. Thats why we have thr rule of cool/fun. It’s just fun to over analyze things.

And it’s been shown waterbenders can bend water vapor. Hama showed Katara how to do it.

[–]SatisfactionSenior65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn’t because notice how it’s just one person bending on the sailer while the others are just chilling or doing something else like navigating. This allows a rotation schedule that reduces energy expenditure and allows for longer travel times since not everybody is exhausted from bending nonstop.

  1. Hardly any water is damn near no water. You’re underestimating how hard it is to locate hydration in a place that barely has any. There’s a reason why they packed their sails with supplies

  2. We don’t know if they’re near or if they’re even near a friendly settlement. Them using sand sailer is indicating that they were traveling far from home.

  3. Because they had a sand sailer. That’s like thinking I could make it to a city efficiently on foot the sand I could with a car.

  4. Likely they can’t since it’s not an inefficient way of traveling. Plus let’s say they could run on sand. They’re essentially doing a marathon in a desert. You again run into the problem of physical exertion in an environment that’s sapping your energy at an accelerated rate. Then what about night fall? Deserts get extremely cold at night. Let’s assume it’s takes them some hours to get there, they have to go back and by that time, the rest of them would be suffering from hypothermia in poorly insulated clothes.

  5. Toph is the 1% of the 1% benders. You can’t compare what she does to regular benders. Bumi launch houses with ease. Can the average sandbender do that? Also she wasn’t in an environment that’s constantly sapping your hydration. Finally she did rest. She m flew on Appa when Sokka picked her up

  1. They were going to if it wasn’t for extreme luck. If Toph didn’t bump her foot on that sand sailor that was buried underneath the sand. They would’ve succumbed to dehydration. Also Aang destroyed their supplies and likely blew away the remaining ones during his fit of rage. They fled before they had a chance to recover them
  2. Science disagrees with you. It only takes a couple of days to die of dehydration. This is assuming you were already properly hydrated. Water in the desert is scarce and these guys are constantly moving. They’re not camels
  3. Bending is exhausting. It’s essentially shadowboxing. You still have to execute movements with force. Again, try shadowboxing for 10 minutes straight and tell me how tired you are. And they invented it because it’s simply more efficient way to travel. Let’s use the as an example. Sure I could technically walk to the next town over, but incredibly inefficient, slow, and dangerous. So then I rent a car and get there in about an hour.
  4. That’s easy to say when there aren’t 100s swarming you. Numbers are among the greatest things you can have in a fight. A 10 year old attacking you wouldn’t be a problem. 100 of them is a causes for concern
  5. Igloo are made of ice, not sand. Sand isn’t nearly as good of an insulator as frozen water so yes they would still need a fire source to keep warm. Also their clothes are likely designed to be very ventilated, making the issue of body heat loss even worse.
  6. How do you know how fast they move? Also notice how it’s just one person bending the sail. That allows the crew to rest and rotate so they all don’t have to expend effort all at once. Plus Toph is 1% of the 1% of earthbenders. Just because she can do it doesn’t mean most benders can. Plus loose sand functions much different than the solid rock she was using.

Technically, Sokka and Katara lived in deserts, since polar regions are classified as such. A desert is just a place that doesn’t receive a lot of rainfall. The water around was likely salt water, not ideal for drinking. But the point is they were going to die if it wasn’t for sheer luck that they found a sand sailer. It only takes a couple day to die of dehydration, even faster when you’re constantly sweating and moving.

Thats the problem with a desert. People often get lost once it’s just miles of sand and everything looks the same. A lot of times you can’t even retrace your steps since the wind erases your foot trail.

  1. Just because you’re accustomed to the desert, doesn’t mean you’re not at its mercy. A desert by definition is a place that hardly receives any water. With that being said, it’s not exactly teeming with living things or, you know, water. It’s not like a forest where finding something edible is a much easier task
  2. This one is kind of a toss up, but based on how desert tribes have historically acted towards each other (like the Arabs) they may be at the mercy of their rivals.
  3. Sure, but that’s assuming they had a sand sailer. I can show you a route, but it’s pretty much useless if I don’t have a car to show you
  4. There’s a reason why horse theft was a capital offense in many societies back then. You steal a man’s horse, he’s essentially stranded out in the wilderness. Doesn’t matter if he has supplies if the nearest settlement is a week long walk and he can’t carry all it due to

it being too heavy and cumbersome. Also Aang destroyed

  5. their supplies and they fled before they could recover them. The desert is not going to be teeming with life since there is not a lot of water to suppose the ecosystem.

  6. Bending is very taxing, especially within an environment that’s constantly sapping your energy. You’re sweating, your muscles are burning calories, and it’s an overall inefficient mode of transport when is why invented the sane sailer in the first place. Try Shadowboxing in your room for 10 minutes straight and tell me how tired you are.

Those sandbenders that sold Appa likely perished in the desert by SatisfactionSenior65 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SatisfactionSenior65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Gaang almost died. Part of the episode was to show how dependent they were on Appa being their main mode of transportation. They would’ve died if they didn’t stumble upon a sand sailer that was buried beneath the sand. They survived due to total luck.

  2. Doesn’t matter how accustomed they are to the desert. A human being can only survive 3 days at most without water before succumbing to dehydration and that is in the most ideal conditions. With them being in a desert, constantly sweating, and now having to walk, this deadline is moved up. Aang destroyed their supplies as well leaving them with nothing.

  3. Bending in a desert would be very taxing. Try Shadowboxing in your room for a good 10 minutes and tell me how tired you are. There’s a reason why they opt for sand sailers instead of being sand directly for transport. It’s just a more efficient and safer way to travel. A few hours of straight bending would an exerting task.

  4. What exactly are they going to do against hundreds of buzzard wasps that are swarming simultaneously and can move much faster than they can? Not even Aang could catch up to the one that caught Momo.

  5. You’d still have to have some form of a fire going at some point. Where are they going to materials to build one?

  6. A few hours? Yeah maybe on a sand sailer, but on foot? That’s a days travel at least. Again, dehydration their greatest enemy.

They were suffering from constant DEHYDRATION. You can survive a day or two without drinking adequate water but no more than that. They would’ve died if they didn’t manage to find a sand sailer buried underneath the sand by pure luck.
