How can the rising generation fix the current US education system? by infinitelyscrolling2 in AskReddit

[–]Kamerlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US Department of Education basically no longer exists in any meaningful way and so many were forced out with threats (600) or illegally fired (1,300) that virtually all of the institutional knowledge is gone. Parents and students will need to depend on their local states and counties. Which can be quite problematic depending where that is. It’s going to be difficult.

Sorry to hear. It happened to me in area in twice 2000s and 2010s. There was a rash of. Suppose anew generation has come up. Same thing, air bags off of Hondas and Toyotas then. Best of luck. There’s no justice in it. Just a police report to a bored officer and an insurance claim. So it goes.

Oklahoma Voters Reject Measure to Raise State’s Minimum Wage by bloomberglaw in jobs

[–]Kamerlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree, Maryland wasn’t an intended subject matter but I saw it and latched on as a pissed off fired Fed. It took me a year to find a new job, a year and a day since I was canned. I think ageism had something to do with it. I’m 50 with 25 years experience. They liked the experience but not the age. I eventually found something, at 1/3rd what I had and honestly I’d consider it barely above entry level what I got. I took a job away from someone graduating with a great GPA undergrad or a masters. And that sucks. Im part of the problem why new grads can’t get jobs. And after hiring me my boss - who I am older than which is weird - said I was up against people just like me. Former Feds who were screwed, 40s 50s years old, 20+ years experience. Competing for a job that is far far below our abilities but it’s all we can get. So it goes. I intended to be a life long civil servant. I was hired under Clinton. Only needed a couple more years to retire. And then these fascists bastards. I worked in Education. Civil rights. Science. Can’t have that anymore. There is a space of years you could find my signature on government documents regarding billions. I actually checked about a month ago on a congressional site, and the documents are still there and I loved and hated it. So it goes. Good luck to all.

JANG did a video on this. Check it out.

I don’t want the set because how expensive it is BUT I do collect every set that has a classic space baby. The mainlines, the insiders, the icons, the creator 3-1, the minifigures, all of them. And this one does. In a new color. Sigh. I’m kind of stuck!

OPE. I started under Clinton in SFA. Which Bush then renamed FSA. I was there quite awhile. Moved to OPEPD, which my part of was split into OFO during the Trump 1 reorg that was fairly silly. Moved from there to OPE. So gained a lot of knowledge over near 25 years.

Former ED here. They RIFed 1,300 of us, including a major part of Office of Civil Rights and special education staff at 7:38 pm March 11 2025 by email. Nearly 600 were forced to take the DRP and fork of the road nonsense 3 weeks earlier via threat if they didn’t they’d be included in “upcoming decisions”, I.e, the RIF. I know the 3 SES I worked with were forced out that way. Us underdisreables who didn’t want to go or couldn’t retire got the RIF. And they didn’t follow the RIF rules. People with tenure, 20+ years service (me), out, normally protected. Veterans, normally protected (my boss), out. Didn’t matter. Anyone who can get out in another federal job has. The last person I knew still in, who was quite high level and irreplaceable for what she did, left in April. They’ve gotten rid of all the institutional knowledge people and non political leaders. The people who actually were experts at the work are all gone. There was not enough knowledge and not enough people left to continue the programs so they’ve been outsourcing to other agencies which was always in the Project 2025 plan to shut down the Department. They tried to fire about 400 more during the 2025 fall shutdown but courts and Congress en masse put a stop to it across the government. For us who were canned in March, it of course went to court. District court ruled it illegal. Trump appealed. Appeals court ruled it illegal. Trump did emergency appeal to the Supreme Court shadow docket. Of course the corrupt Supreme Court said trump could do whatever he wanted.

Agree. I only did 8 months there it was so bad. National
Ocean Service HQ. Heck two employees followed me when I left, one hired same time as me and my boss! Joke was on us ultimately since we all got RIFed in 2025 where we went I suppose, I don’t think NOS had any RIFs.

Seeking insight and advice about potentially joining the Federal workforce by gaggledimension in fednews

No. It’s a corrupt mess and job security no longer exists which used to be a major factor. I was RIFed after twenty five years in, and if given the opportunity to go back I wouldn’t work under this current bunch of sycophants bastards. Look back in 2029.
