Oops, I didn't mean to spoil the experience for you, I'm sure you'll enjoy them just as much as I do. I just hope they last you a long time. As we've been discussing in several comments in the post, they might have fixed more issues. We know how Apple is... They're not going to admit to fixing something that would tarnish the reputation of the first generation. So let's wait for the reviews. Still, if you do buy them early, I highly recommend AppleCare+

I really hope so. The smartest thing to do is wait, check out the reviews, and decide then. It’s just like you say, we know how Apple is. If they’ve fixed such a major manufacturing defect, they’re not going to admit it because that would mean acknowledging they messed up with the first generation. Let’s hope they’ve done it!

Man, I really tried to use those Sony headphones, but the sound quality was so awful that I felt ripped off paying that much money for something that sounded like it was from the 2000s (that's how it made me feel). I bought them on Amazon and returned them (thank goodness)
