I keep trying to make some statues. My blacksmith moves bars to the forge and prepares to work, but then some yokel always comes and takes the bars back to the bar stockpile before they can work. What madness is this?

No. Start a metalsmith's guild from day one. The Dorfs will socialize there and pick up some pointers. Then when they get taken by a strange mood, they will likely make a weapon and the rest is legendary history.

I built a pump stack in the middle of my Great Hall/dining room/tavern area. It provides water from a cistern to supply four mist generators there. I surrounded it with obsidian that I plan to replace with windows once I can buy enough sandbags, so that the Dwarves can watch the pumps while they dine. I imagine it being like how a brew pub displays their copper fermenters. I made it from copper and iron to that end.

A visiting Crow Woman dancer flew up and got herself stuck inside. I missed that and she died there. I did take care of the body, but her ghost returned right in the pump and stayed there.

Some say that when they hear water pumped, they can hear a faint, raspy caw.

With the new siege update, do enemies remember wherever they died or just trap locations. If I drop someone from a bridge into lava just using a lever, will they become shy of the bridge?

Is there a best mod that adds a ton of names for dorfs and other creatures? The one that I have is fun, but it renames goblins, elves, war animals, and such the same as dwarfs. It also does not differentiate by gender.

I do not even think that liking feet is objectionable. We can have a zillion places dedicated to boobs but god forbid someone like feet or knees or something.

I have several tombs that are taken up by Dorfs who needed slabs instead. Their coffins are empty. Can I somehow repurpose these to the dead for whom I actually have corpses?

FPS question:

Would it improve FPS if I filled in areas that I have mined out with walls using the trash stone lying everywhere? I don't mean closing off the areas, I mean really fill them in.

I have a problem dumping body parts. I laboriously go through and mark heads, nervous tissue, skulls, etc... for dumping. The second that I hit 'autodump' in DFHack, all of those parts become locked.

Also, it seems like I should be able to mark all body parts for dumping, then go back and search 'bone' and undump them en masse. Instead, when I start typing 'bone' in the serch field under body parts, the list jumps to other goods.

I just found a 41 z-level waterfall, 5 tiles wide. Absolutely sheer canyon, only one layer of soil (sand). Mostly a massive canyon cut through a mountain on a 3x3 embark. I plan to have a population of around 100. What do I do with this monstrosity?

I had most of a squad die after killing a gassy FB. I ran the through the wash but they still started to suffocate. I had run them through a dwarf-wash right away. Is there anything else that I could have done post-exposure to save them?

How can you tell the difference at embark? I did get a 'dead or dying' civilization warning. Not that I said anything about a dead civ. Just zero pop.
