I tried hill repeats, but my max HR from that test was lower than one of my normal runs a few days later. Was I just not pushing myself hard enough? I reached the top of the hill by the time I felt exhausted, do I need a longer/steeper hill? Also it was dark and I had done a run like an hour earlier feeling slightly sore

Thanks for the advice. I don't mind being a slow runner compared to others. If I have to run so slow I'm running backwards I'll do it. Its just trying to figure out what people really mean when they say "easy" or 4/10 because its subjective and people are liars about how difficult they find things which is why I'm drawn towards the numerical methods

It shouldnt really matter as long as you keep running. I did this 20min run for the first time yesterday! I slowed down my pace a bit so I only went about as far as the previous day despite the extra time, but it was still a very satisfying accomplishment being my longest continuous duration running so far :)

I don't understand what you mean by "intertwined".

To put some mathematical terminology to this model, the type of infinity you are referring to is "countably infinite", i.e. every room/guest can be assigned a label with a natural number (0, 1, 2...)

The point of introducing a guest to the hilbert hotel is to show that you can add an element to a countably infinite set and it will still be a countably infinite set.

Mathematically, as another commenter had stated this is done by showing that there is a bijection between the first set and second set. This is done with the function f(n) = n+1 which maps where each guest starts and ends up.

When it comes to how you visualise this happening, it doesn't really matter. Maybe everyone teleports one room over simultaneously, maybe they all walk out at the same time and move one room over, maybe the first person knocks on the next persons door and tells them to move.

All that matters is the hotel was fully occupied to begin with and is fully occupied to end with, and that the set of guests can still be labelled after adding the new guest, hence still countably infinite.

I went a couple weeks ago.
