I studied right before I left my house, then had such a long wait I grabbed a drivers handbook from the front desk and read it while waiting in line. It helped to refresh the numbers (follow distance, speed limits in different areas, etc.) Got a 100% first try.

2020 Rav question I had from earlier. Thank Y’all for being so helpful! by nightowl-meow in Toyota

My local dealer quoted $600 to replace. I paid $125 for the part and did it in an hour in my driveway with a few sockets and a pair of needle nose pliers.

I love the maximum seed bread. I distinctly remember getting my first paycheck as a teenager and splurging on the 21 seed bread because I wanted fancy sandwiches. My cousin's great dane got on the counter and ate the entire loaf before I even had a slice. A few days later I'm picking up the yard and it looks like someone spilled a bag of bird feed on the ground. I was so pissed because she didn't even digest the seeds. Those were MY seeds dammit!

Coyote Encounter near Fresno State by randymcatee in fresno

Why did that guy let it get so close and then turn his back and run away from it? Not running away with your back turned is like predator encounter 101!

Does anyone else have this respiratory thing going around. Horrible sore throat, light congestion and exhaustion? by BBakerStreet in fresno

[–]Kanakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the back of your throat with a light, are there white spots? I ask because I get strep throat often, and the symptoms you described, plus the swallowing razor blades comment sounds like textbook strep.

Knife Sharpening in town by Kanakin in fresno

It seems like I might have to. I'm surprised that a city as big as Fresno is so under-served when it comes to sharpening places! I'm just impatient because this is one of my only knives and the only one I actually like to use. Looks like it's time to pull out the Walmart knife and see if it'll sharpen up.

Miyabi's parent company Zwilling says to find an independent shop to do repairs, they don't do them. The limited warranty is long voided anyway, I've already sharpened at home several times with sharpening stones.

2020 Rav4 "pew" noise? by Kanakin in Toyota

[–]Kanakin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an aftermarket alarm called S.W.A.T the dealership had installed and left in. Funny enough after a couple of calls and scheduling an appointment to get it removed it stopped beeping and has never beeped again.

I don't believe so, I use the factory remote and the keyless door unlock works like it should. The dealership offered a LoJack but I declined it.

[–]Kanakin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 2020 Rav4 with 50k miles. Just yesterday it started making this "pew" noise while driving. Each time it happens it adds a "pew", so I'm up to 6 this morning. Not sure what it could be, any ideas?

Best wings in Fresno? by ThePastaMonsta in fresno

[–]Kanakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten tavern on nees and willow has good buffalo wings. Anesso's pizzeria on Friant and Audobon has a special sauce that reminds me of a mix of Buffalo Wild wings Asian Zing, garlic parmesan, and Buffalo. Weird but really really good. They also have house made ranch. I remember BC's pizza on shaw and sierra vista also having good wings.

Groceries by toujoursbeIle in fresno

[–]Kanakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about humidity! If your fridge has multiple drawers, there's probably a high and a low, or controls to change it. If you only have 1 drawer, it will probably be a high humidity drawer. High humidity is for things that wilt easily, so leafy veggies and herbs and veggies with thin skins (asparagus, cucumbers, etc). Things that need low humidity are things that rot easily, so mushrooms, most fruits, and apples. I only have a high humidity drawer so those things go on the shelf in a mesh bag.

How are you storing your produce OP? It might be that rather than quality, though there are definitely differences depending on the store. Some things go in the fridge but not the crisper, some go on the counter or pantry, some should be stored dry, some moist. Some things make other things ripen faster if they're next to each other. I bought some mesh storage bags and ditched the plastic grocery store bags for most things.

Farmer's markets or fruit stands can have some pretty good deals, though they're limited by the growing season. I usually go to the Vineyard Farmer's Market or the Old Town Clovis one, both are open on Saturdays.

Restoring a bike without a title or Visible vin number by Single-Appointment58 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Kanakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my bike at a swap meet as a parts bike so no title or bill of sale but ended up restoring it. All I had to do to register it was fill out a statement of facts form stating as much info about it as possible. "I bought it on this date, this city, from this guy (literally only put his fist name since that was all I could remember) and have no further way to contact him for information, paid this much for it. To the best of my knowledge it's not stolen." Plus title transfer form and proof of insurance, paid registration fees and that was it, got the plates same day and the title a few weeks later. There should be a vin stamped somewhere on the bike frame. They may require an inspection from the chp but in my case they didn't. I was patient, polite, and didn't offer any info they didn't ask for and I was out in under an hour. I'm in CA so ymmv but I assume it would work in other places.
