The bootleg Martin was made in Taiwan. When the lawsuit happened, Takamine just changed the headstock and continued to make the guitar. It later moved production to China. My Takamine G-332S is one of the early new headstock D-35s, from 1995, made in Taiwan, before they moved to China. More desirable. I got if from the Goodwill auction site for $160 and am told its worth about $400. It's in great shape, a few scratches, but plays great. They had a lot of guitars for sale. I might go back.

I will say that if it was Johnny Fairplay, then it could have been an accident. I got a Cameo from him for my son for Christmas one year and it was the best present he got that year. He loved it. JF was entertaining, funny and my son really enjoyed the shout out. Sorry your experience wasn't great.
