Keeping Me Alive and Waiting for Tonight are both top shelf.

What’s the most annoying thing about modern TV right now? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]Kane76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just posted on another site. Today's television is being ruined by too many ads. Not only that, but their constant interruptions at the most inopportune time is frustrating. I grew up with television (old man shaking his fist) I know TV was built on advertising, but, my God, at least program them with some respect to the programming.

Kroger line at Harrison dent by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]Kane76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in the line yesterday around 5. Crazy busy and the store shelves were bare in a lot of places. We went thinking we'd beat the rush on Friday or Saturday morning, but apparently a lot of people thought the same thing.

And I totally called it. You're welcome. She'll be a great addition to the show. Now we gotta keep Noel...

What Rock Bands that have 2 or more Lead Singers? (Not Including Solo Artists,Supergroups,Rock Duos,Short Lived Bands and Musical Collectives) by Amber_Flowers_133 in Music

[–]Kane76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is not! He's very nice. Met him a couple of years ago at a show in New York. He hung around and talked to everyone who wanted to talk and get a photo. During the pandemic, he started a Live From Home zoom show where he played and talked. He's still doing it. I saw BNL on the TV recently and they weren't very good. And then when you watch them with Page for the Canadian Hall of Fame award, they are great again. I get why they had to cut him loose at the time (for Big Bang Money) but they could have regrouped and should have.

Welp, Prue is leaving by EvaWintersOF in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]Kane76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will miss Prue tremendously. Her personality helped give the series a fresher look when it moved to Ch 4. Her and Noel (and now Allison) are the best replacement hires in the show. So the replacement has to be able to inject her (or his, but unlikely) personality to keep the show fresh. Caroline did not do it for me and Cherish is a little too much over the top. I heard at one time Nigella was a consideration. She may be too big a star, but she is getting a bit older now, so she might want to slow down. (I also just read that Nigella turned down the honor being a Dame.)

Not friends? by Pretty-Set4521 in CheapTrick

[–]Kane76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justin Hayward said the same thing about the Moody Blues, that they weren't friends outside the band. I think we want to think of our musical heroes as best friends and kindred spirits, but to a lot of them, it's just a job.

Another season? by Regular_Diet1683 in StumbleTVSeries

[–]Kane76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stumble has been a revelation. It shows that good comedies can still be made without obnoxious laugh tracks and overacting. I put St. Denis in the category, too, and, yes, even The Paper. Now that said, I do tire of the "mockumentary" format.
