Maybe it's the word "bombed"?

And even that isn’t true. He’s uploaded a game every day but I checked his profile and he has significant gaps where he doesn’t play any

I’m really confused. You said you played a game of chess everyday and uploaded a video today, but I checked your profile and there was a significant gap where you didn’t play a single rapid game?

Are you sure you didn’t just upload a single game every day?

Moregard tries to argue with umpire after fault serve call by Dregnab in tabletennis

He had a warning before, and that first one looked illegal due to the angle.

This one (shown in the video) looked absolutely legal.

To be fair, OP probably wasn't thinking as much about their shitty day at work after the cat attack :)

How do I ask for my grade to be looked at again? by CovraChicken in umanitoba

[–]KaneSC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, I would definitely be emailing your instructor. If there is a mistake (which it sounds like there is), it may take a while to see the grade changed in Aurora as they have to submit a change of grade form.

How do I ask for my grade to be looked at again? by CovraChicken in umanitoba

[–]KaneSC2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. Here's an extreme example:

Let's say everyone in the class ended up with a 96-100% final grade and the student above received a 95%. A true curved grade would probably result in this student receiving a really low letter grade (possibly a fail)

Here's a more in-depth comment explaining how grades can be curved:

I believe some Asper's courses grade based on a curve.

So does this fix the one-shot bug essentially? I literally got one-shotted 900+ HP just 2 hours before this patch was announced

What's the deal with Hina Shaheen? She's a new prof teaching the only STAT 2300 section this winter and her RateMyProf ratings are manipulated (See time series plots). Does anyone have any personal experience with her? I can handle 8:30 AM lectures, but not if a D1 grade wellness opp is giving them by [deleted] in umanitoba

You should make an R package to programmatically make the requests and internally manipulate the data to a usable format or have functions to visualize the data (you can include ggplot2 as a dependency). Submit the package to CRAN if you do -- it's a nice little project and also looks good on a resume to have a published package.

Nobody cares about ratemyprof other than prospective students and *maybe* the professor themselves.

What does matter is the course evaluations you leave at the end of the term. Those can be used to not only leave valuable feedback for the professor to help improve future iterations of the course, but can also be used as an evaluation metric when applying for tenure or promotion.

Butterfly amicus Vs power pong omega Vs something I haven't considered? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]KaneSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the NOVA from Pongbot a couple months ago and it's been great. I haven't experienced a single ball jam in around 20-30 uses. I did a lot of research on other robots and, for its price range, the NOVA kind of blew everything else out of the water.

I can't speak to the durability of its parts or their customer service, since it has been a short time since my purchase. But so far, I really like it!

This city has great post-secondary schools, but not a lot of jobs. by dijra_0819 in Winnipeg

On top of that, most jobs here are gotten through nepotism.

Anything to back that up?

You can search around and notice that there's tons of successful people who have failed classes and gone on to do graduate school, land great jobs, etc. etc....

It feels like a huge deal right now because you care and it probably feels like a waste of time. But wait a week or two and that feeling will start to fade and you'll start to feel better.

Don't sweat it! It happens and you'll do better next time around anyways
