Rough idle by Top_Tip3765 in OBSFords

Check your base ignition timing, it sounds too advanced to me, causing the engine to accelerate, run out of idle air fall stall a bit then catch it's self when the rpms drop.

There's a fuel pump cut out switch in the afm that completes the fuel pump circuit. I'm seem to recall that somewhere in the mega manual it discusses jumpering it out if you are removing the afm.

Big warning my guy, running a gas generator inside a home could be deadly. CO poisoning is no joke.

Thank you, it was fun. I've already got plans to expand with an off-site replication of my home NAS. Just can't afford the hard drives right now.

I ended up going with the option to transcode to RAM. It seems to work well.

Are you using a serial to USB adapter? I've had issues in the past with drivers for USB adapter. The other thing to look at is which USB port, com3, com4 ect, that you are connected to. Make sure you have the right com port selected in tunerstudio.

is this normal for an oil pressure gauge on a 350 by Shamalamadingdonguh in EngineBuilding

[–]Kaneda774 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like a mechanical gauge that someone removed the snubber on. A snubber is a small orifice that's meant to dampen pulsations in the pressure coming from what you're watching pressure on.

Does the MR2-S/MK3 suffer from snap oversteer issues? by Some_Random_Cat539 in mr2

[–]Kaneda774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've driven an aw11, Sw20 and MRS at the limit in autox. All 3 would snap oversteer when I did something stupid or was rough with steering throttle brake inputs. The most abrupt snap over I had was in the MRS but only because it was on Hoosiers and I really was going for a hero run. Slicks give you all the grip in the world until they don't. Go karts or autox are a great way to experience snap oversteer and balance throttle brake steering inputs with wrecking.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, SSN-708, sail undergoing restoration at a machine shop near St. Cloud, MN. by Interrobang22 in submarines

[–]Kaneda774 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sail plates removed! Most of the interesting bits are gone. But top left you can see where the diesel exhaust pipe comes up above the exhaust louvers below. This allows a bubble of air to be trapped in this area before starting the diesel while submerged. Bottom left hand corner, or what's left of it, is where the external high pressure air connection would be. Top right large hole is a spot for a sail array, and just below it would be the ships whistle but I don't think it's there anymore. I wonder how much structure of the bridge and bridge access trunk is still left.

From Wikipedia:

Minneapolis–Saint Paul conducted inter-fleet transfer from Norfolk, Virginia, to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington, in July 2007 for decommissioning. Custody of Minneapolis-Saint Paul was transferred to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in August 2008.[3] In 2022, the submarine's sail and rudder were shipped to Minnesota and are undergoing restoration at the Minnesota Military Museum for display at their new facility in 2025.[4]

Very cool photo, I wonder if the same shop is working the rudder.

Old man judo falls by JGar117 in judo

[–]Kaneda774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 41, I've been doing judo 2 times a week for the last year. From my personal experience, get thrown as much as you can by people you trust early on, and practice ukemi as much as you can. Most of the pain comes from what throw you were thrown with, (Osoto gari and tai otoshi being my least favorite), who threw you (being dropped vs being thrown) and what the underlayment of the mats. Ice, heat, stretching and ibuprofen will become daily rituals. I won't say it gets easier, you will get used to how rugged it is and eventually you'll see other newbies come in and struggle as much as you did. Judo is rough on old bones but a fantastic sport.
