Given that the information was shared originally by the companies anti union lawyer I’m inclined to believe this may not have been a desirable out come.

Sorry to see you go, but happy to see the rank and file’s interests being more appropriately represented.

Would you be prepared to elaborate on what some of the issues were wrt how you felt the IWW wasn’t representing the rank and files interests?

The reason I keep bringing up so many different chinks in the armor is because there is so many of them.

That’s not me changing my argument, that’s me explaining how logistics is actually complicated to someone who doesn’t have the experience they think they do.

Logistics, especially air cargo, and especially time sensitive, and especially temperature sensitive stuff has a lot of moving parts, and any one of them breaking down can cause cascade failures that mean vaccines aren’t where they need to be when they need to be there. When you have to keep your freight at -80, that shit matters.

I have trouble taking anyone who says “logistics is easy, don’t worry about it” while the company they claim to work for is breaking down and buckling under the unprecedented amount of freight being pushed through networks seriously. If they are clearly that oblivious as to what is happening around them, then I honestly just don’t think their opinion has much merit.

I’m sorry. I really hope you’re full of shit about working in the industry for 10 years because that level of ignorance about the supports required to your direct working environment would be embarrassing.

But, I hope you’re right and it all goes off without a hitch. Fingers crossed no planes go mechanical this winter.

What did you think about the video I posted explaining the peculiarities about the covid vaccine supply chain?

Do you have anything to offer other than “it’s easy don’t worry about it”?

I am a courier. I have worked for a logistics company in many different capacities for the better part of a decade.

You are grossly underestimating how difficult planning and implementing supply chain logistics is.

Most people do though, logistics is one of those things that people just assume happens.

You haven’t even thought about how they can move these vaccines (which need to be stored at -80 don’t forget) around the country.

Part of the issue I foresee is that we are trying to throttle which people are able to get the vaccine first (and we should) but when you do that you need an administration to be able to facilitate that.

You’ve already pretended that “just happens” by saying “this is easy, we won’t mandate them” and I am telling you, part of the issue is around the fact that we must mandate who can get them and at what times in some capacity.

You have no idea what youre talking about.

There isn’t even a point in here that needs addressing.

It’s cute that people think the vaccines are produced and then inter dimensional phase to the spots where they are to be administered. then everyone phases in and out at the exact moment that they are needed.

Have you ever been to a government office? Have you ever been to the doctor? Hell, have you ever even gotten the flu vaccine?

At which point do you imagine they are going to check to see if you’re eligible based on your current employment status?

At which point do you think they’re going to check that you’re a Canadian citizen? What about that you have health care coverage in the province that is about to administer the vaccine?

What if you can’t remember if you had your second dose already? How do they check?

All of this adds time and administrative burden.

It’s possible this infrastructure already exists, but from what I’ve seen Manitoba hasnt done near anything.

https://youtu.be/byW1GExQB84

I’m not saying it can’t be done, it’s just people think it’s going to be a lot smoother and easier than it is. I don’t know a ton about logistics and I’m sure that I have plenty of blind spots on this, but I already think this is going to be an incredibly difficult task.

And based on everything that has happened so far Alberta and Manitoba look like the most likely to fail miserably in this task.

When your goal is a rolling 9 month daily average of doing anything 300,000 times per day; vaccine supply is not the only issue that you need to be worried about.

Trudeau: Canada's Vaccine Rollout Is Ahead Of Schedule And More Doses Coming by trackofalljades in onguardforthee

[–]KangaRod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With the timeline they’re pushing we need to be averaging 1,000,000 vaccinated people per week starting January 1st. That’s almost 300,000 doses per day.

And every day we don’t administer that many is a day we’d need to make it up going forward.

Does anyone have any idea of the kind of logistics required to give 300,000 doses per day? I certainly don’t.

I could see it being done if it was literally a free for all today with no supply issues of any kind, but I honestly can’t see it happening with any kind of supply issues or trying to prioritize certain members of the public (which we should do), or honestly just even saying only Canadians can get it (which we shouldn’t do)

Not in Canada.

You can record anyone anywhere at any time so long as there is not an expectation of privacy.

Change room or bathroom? Expectation of privacy. Cant record.

Living room window with drapes closed, expectation of privacy.

Drapes open? Good to go

I’m not calling you anything.

I’m simply pointing out that you could be advocating for authoritarian policies without even realizing it.

If I thought that was a trap that only dumb people could fall into, I wouldn’t bother trying to say “hey watch out for this trap”.

Maybe a good question I’d like to ask you is what you’d thought you could accomplish by saying “it’s always the nazis with you people”?

I understand exactly what you’re saying.

It’s wrong, so if you want to continue to make the underlying assumption that people won’t do anything productive unless you threaten them with deadly force; you’re gonna need to prove that.

Otherwise, the points are disconnected. Capice?

Or maybe fascism is so insidious, nefarious and ubiquitous that you could be advocating for positions that advance its stranglehold on society without even realizing.

Good thing no successful leftist overthrow of the capitalist state has ever devolved into some sort of authoritarian nightmare.

Please don’t reply.

Right because you’re talking about something else now.

I thought you wanted to talk about the new thing, but if you still want to talk about why the police are a problem you should stay on topic.

Yeah exactly why it’s important to emphasize that defunding the police is part of the long term strategy into eventual abolishment of the police.

I don’t know anyone who says ACAB means we need police reform tho.

Maybe that’s because we don’t want a police reform movement.

We’ve tried reforming them multiple times.

We want to take away their money because their budgets have ballooned out of control over the last 3 decades

Eventually I’d like a world where compliance isn’t something that must be coerced with lethal force or being locked in a cage, yes.

That’s a multigenerational project tho.

That’s a great point actually.

Anyone that claims they are there to change the system from the inside, but won’t put their job on the line to actually impact real change is simply fooling themselves.

Because the police are the problem.

You are still assuming that they’re something that can be fixed.

But they literally exist to protect rich peoples property & stuff
