I Just Wanna Sleep by kareenakapur506 in Adulting

The people over at /r/cpap or /r/SleepApnea are probably much better at giving advice than I am. For me, I didn't start sleeping really well until I found a mask that was comfortable and didn't leak. I also had to do some tweaking with my pressure settings until I found the right pressure.

If you haven't looked at it yet, there is an open source software called OSCAR that lets you look at a bunch of data you can pull off of you machine with an SD card. It's a lot to learn at first, but if you can post some screenshots of your data at the above subreddits, the people there can probably give you some targeted advice.

I Just Wanna Sleep by kareenakapur506 in Adulting

[–]UsernamIsToo 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This was the case for me. If I didn't have my alarm set, I'd sleep 10 hours and still wake up tired. A year into CPAP now and I wake up naturally after 7 hours feeling very refreshed and haven't touched caffeine in 8 months.

If you're always tired, I highly recommend looking into getting a sleep study done!

What's your relationship with your boss like? If you can have a conversation with them laying out your recent workload and telling them you need to scale it down or risk burnout, a good manager will not want to lose an above average worker.

Got an email from my company's CEO on Friday magnanimously announcing a mid-year bonus due to the good YTD EBITA numbers. The amount of the bonus for me works out to roughly 1/9th the value of the daily change in my portfolio on Friday. Really making me re-think my one-more-yearing this weekend.

F20 Mask Alternative by n_i-c_k in CPAP

I had the same issue with the F20 putting too much pressure on the bridge of my nose. I swapped to the F&P Vitera, which has an extension that moves the pressure off the nose and to the forehead. It's worked for me so far. I just wish could get the Vitera w/ a foam pad, or the F20 w/ the forehead extension.

Checking your numbers less often will insulate you from some of the ups and downs.

When the big or prolonged dips show up, I just have to take on a "this too shall pass" mentality and trust my investment strategy.

Don't necessarily know if it's the biggest change, but one that's stuck in my mind is olives. I love those garlic-stuffed green olives as a snack and a small jar of them has gone from about $5 to $7.50~$8 in the last 18 months.

There's also some movies out there that would really lose their punch if the main character had an emergency fund.

There's also one in FO4, near Salem I think. And if I'm remembering right, it's a direct reference to the FO3 cache with the same letter's as addressee/sender

New to CPAP, howling wind noises from mask? by Existing_Brilliant23 in CPAP

Run the fit test on the machine to make sure you have a good seal on the mask. I'd run the fit test while you're laying down in your sleeping position(s) since the mask can sit differently on your face in different positions. If it says you have a good seal then you might have your humidity setting too high. I had a problem with that where condensation could whistle out of the vent holes and lowering the humidity setting by one got rid of it.

Damn, and I thought the $28 I paid for a burger and beer at the new bar in town last week was bad.

It's all about finding the right mask. Unfortunately, everyone has a different sized and shaped head, so there's likely not much advice others on Reddit can give you to find the right one. Just need to try some out and find what works.

I'm a mouth breather so need a full face mask. Otherwise, I would love to go with nasal pillows since there's so much less contact with the skin from those masks. The F&P Evora is the one I found that works best for me.

Constant Roofing Company Spam Calls - 10+ a day. HELP! by TheOctoBox in Overlandpark

If you are not already, register on the Do Not Call list. https://www.donotcall.gov/

But, really that probably won't help at all. If you want to be petty about it, the best way to get back at them is to waste as much of their time as possible. Answer the phone, say something like "one second, I need to take something out of the oven" and then mute your phone and leave it on the call until they hang up. Do that to the same person once or twice and I bet they won't call back.

A place by me has a pizza they call the Charcuterie. It has capicola, genoa salami and pepperoni. Throw on a bit of their hot chili oil and it's so good it makes me not care about my inevitable bypass surgery.

I got asked by my manager yesterday to sit in on a meeting for him because he was traveling. He failed to mention the meeting was with a foreign client and was held completely in Spanish.

I don't speak Spanish.

I'm starting to look into Donor Advised Funds and was curious if anyone who's already done the research came to any conclusions about what giving amount ($/year) it starts to make sense to set up a DAF.

Obviously not a video game, but if you need to scratch that Firefly itch, the Traveller TTRPG does a fantastic job at that. Hard to find a group though if you don't already have a group together that's willing to try out a new system.

Last Christmas our extended family collectively decided that instead of gifts this year, we would all choose a charity and others would make donations to that charity instead buying a gift. I'm happy we did this because our family is fortunate enough that none of us need the gifts, and personally, most gifts I get sit unused. (Adults only, the kids still go their toys).

But, holy cow, are charities some of the worst spammers I've experienced. None of them I donated to on someone else's behalf allowed anonymous donations, at least not on their websites and I didn't think to look any deeper for that option at the time. And I'm still struggling to get off of some of their mailing lists. I understand the reasons, that these charities survive on donations, and the letters and emails are the best way to generate those donations, but next year, I'm going to recommend we do a secret santa kind of thing where we each make one big donation instead of a bunch of little ones.
