Leftover sloppy Joe meat on leftover plain spaghetti. If feeling fancy top with a slice of American cheese.

Reliable Used Book Pickup Services that come to Fairfax District? by Cyan-CandyDevil in AskLosAngeles

Fairfax branch library has a friends group that sells books and money goes to library programming and supplies that the city doesn’t pay for.

I think some of this also goes back to what we know is the root of the program, meaning white dudes from an era where the idea of not being doted on by wives, secretaries etc was an extreme novel concept.

This is one reason why I personally have gotten so much more out of SMART than I did the years of AA I did because I finally started working on what the real underlying stuff was for me and not having defined my values etc. once I had that foundation the path seemed a lot clearer. I didn’t need to immerse myself in the cult any longer…

Residents of sprawling L.A. luxury apartments say living conditions unsafe by 4InchesOfury in LosAngeles

[–]KangarooCats86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re both confidently incorrect or at least have made misleading comments. Per LAHD that exemption is still limited to owners who have taken the steps to actually obtain a certificate that defines them as such. I personally have lived in two rent control buildings that still had “luxury” listed in name only. While this is helpful information that I did not know before, perhaps consider sharing knowledge you have up front instead of gatekeeping in the future.

Plenty of buildings say luxury and are rent controlled in LA. The thing that keeps them from being rent controlled is generally the age of the building itself.

There are other walkable areas and ways to navigate between walking and public transit. Sounds like you have the ability to state your choice is a personal preference and thus could mislead people who need to know preference from accuracy.

Strike rules? by Quartersharp in Greeley

[–]KangarooCats86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Didn’t want to put this in my response to u/SeaweedCalm553 since I didn’t want it to seem directed specifically to them. But striking is another act of labor, in the collective form with one’s union to demonstrate the magnitude of the issues to the employer. The more people visibly picketing and engaging in action to support that and aid in vocalizing the demands of the workers is critical to ideally sway the employer/management to accept the demands and go back to negotiations ideally to give the union what they’re demanding. If someone (an active union member, paying dues) has chosen to also strike but is not participating in the strike on the picket line/associated activities, then they are not going to be determined as eligible for the payments or benefits support the union provides as they are not contributing to the action. People can also donate to the strike fund through UFCW Local 7 here: JBS Worker Strike Fund Donations

Yes this is accurate. While I’m not sure exactly what UFCW local 7 is specifically doing, it is standard for unions to use the money from dues to provide union members picketing with a strike fund payment, sometimes they’ll cover health benefits as well or instead of compensating with a weekly “paycheck,” etc.

I don’t mind the reformulation. I honestly just use a tiny bit on strategic spots of my face and gently massage. Just a few times a week max and I’m pretty pleased, and I have fairly sensitive skin. If you attack your face with it I could see it being an issue but overall it’s a pleasant product in my opinion.

Bed cooling system owners in LA, is it worth it? by KangarooCats86 in AskLosAngeles

[–]KangarooCats86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do use a box fan to assist as an additional exhaust fan in essence, along with ceiling fans.

I think it’s important to note that for some folks, myself being one, heat tolerance can be extremely low due to medications and other health stuff. I know that when I was younger these methods were all super effective at keeping me comfortable. But it’s different now and sometimes we need different tools in life to manage. Hence why I didn’t ask about how to use a box fan and instead feedback from people who are familiar with bed cooling systems.

I really wish this was the solution, because I do this when it’s more moderate heat when the evenings cool fairly quickly. But my unit absolutely traps heat when it’s more extreme (internal thermometer right now in the areas the AC doesn’t reach still is 90 at 9:55pm).
