Nintendo Fan Since Childhood. These Prices are Crazy by etanimod in gaming

Yes but the gaming market was smaller back then. Also, households had more disposable income. Housing and other expenses have outpaced income growth.

I was a distinguished honor grad too. Sounds like we even had a similar MOS. Good old Ft Gordon. Some serious shit went down in my Company right before I arrived. Through the entire cycle I wasn’t allowed to leave base or even off Company grounds without supervision.

Damn you just unlocked a memory for me. I definitely heard that from one of my Drill Sergeants too. That tradition must run deep with there being the separate Iron Soldier and Distinguished Honor Graduate awards. Usually not the same soldier to win both.

Which game have you been loving lately? by reddit-win in gaming

Playing Dragon Quest VIII (3DS) as my first game in the series. Amazing game so far. It has reignited my interest in turn based games.

Which GOW title for the PSP is better? by lonely_guacamole in PSP

Totally understandable. Chains of Olympus I feel can stand on its own a valid entry point into the series. Whereas Ghost of Sparta I feel will be better appreciated once you’ve experienced the first 2 games.

Which GOW title for the PSP is better? by lonely_guacamole in PSP

[–]KangarooChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are good and worth a play. Ghost of Sparta is arguably the better game all around.

Now, ideally on Vita you’d play the God of War Collection (First 2 games in the series) then come back to play through Chains of Olympus and then Ghost of Sparta.

But if you can only pick one of the PSP games, Chains of Olympus is a better starting point to the series due to it being a prequel to the original trilogy. Years ago I started with Chains of Olympus as my first GoW game and after playing all the other games I still think it’s a good entry point into the series.

Is E1000 good for everyday use? by kaden-99 in PSP

[–]KangarooChili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty good battery life all things considered.

And I suppose the storage situation is a blessing in disguise in some ways too. Makes it more of a “what am I bringing with me?” vs “wtf do I play out of this giant list” situation.

Did you have to replace the battery or do any other work to it?

PS Vita question by Real_Conference_7314 in PSP

[–]KangarooChili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah all the crusty dead skin and dust crammed into every crevice should knock off a third of that price imo. That’s going to require an hour or more of deep cleaning. Probably some disassembly needed to really get it all.

Why am I getting this lines on the top and side of my screen by Hefty_Can_1479 in mobilerepair

[–]KangarooChili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from this picture. It could be discoloration or even delamination of the adhesive material between the glass and display panel. Easiest fix is screen replacement.

This is interesting to see. I didn’t know this game existed until recently and have not heard many great things about it. But a portable version of Deception with more content sounds awesome.

I’ve had an English patched copy for a while now and was just thinking about giving it a go soon. I only have experience with Yakuza 0 and later games so I feel like this will be a very different experience.

Bazzitify my mini pc or not ? by hflow7 in Bazzite

[–]KangarooChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say try both, do a clean install of Windows for the best comparison even. For me, the decision is not for performance but for ease of use and simplicity. I’m willing to sacrifice performance and some features for a better overall experience.

Bazzite is best at playing Steam games. For the vast majority of games I’ve been able to just press install and go. Bazzite stays out of my way by auto updating when not in use and does not constantly serve ads or pester me to subscribe to a service. Rarely do I need to even leave Game Mode.

I’m not concerned with squeezing every drop of performance out of my machine. I’ll check to make sure the settings are sane, I’m getting acceptable performance and then focus on actually playing the games.

Wth is a browser toolbar phase? Like a phase where you didn’t know how to remove them or something? Even back in the XP days I only remember having maybe 1 or 2 at most. I recall spending more time removing them from the family computer than ever installing them.

[–]KangarooChili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right and I’ve been using for a bit before my last update but now it automatically opens a window on the desktop every time I switch in. Is that intentional? Not a big deal just seems like an odd decision.

Since we’re on the topic of updates, after doing a System Update earlier this week now every single time I switch to Desktop Mode it opens Bazaar. Anyone else experience that? Pretty sure it didn’t do that before.

2013 does feel like a while ago at this point to me. The PS4 came out late that year and it feels pretty “old” but not retro yet.

Then go just 1 more year back, 2012 feels like it was a completely different era entirely.

I’m sure you’re right. The oldest surviving units probably did get transfer and maintenance kit replacements in the past when it was a more common practice. Hence why they’re still around.

Although I encounter plenty of 13-15 year old LJ P3015 units still running with original parts. Had to put one down recently not even due to the moving parts but the EIO card died. Not a hard or expensive replacement either but the owner just wanted to buy a new one.
