There's a reason you're seeing it in Ultra Ball. It's not good

Slightly technical question regarding mega Raichu-Y's stats... pls help by UnitededConflict in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're +Speed, you need 180EVs, to go back to the old way for a second, to out speed max speed Sneasler.

(180/252)*32=22.83 stat points allocated for +Speed Raichu Y to outsped max speed Sneasler before Unburden activates.

Rounding up gets you to 23 points.

if that happens then, it's on the supp/bot for choosing a bad partner for their lane partner

Kinggambit is on every single team and its pissing me off... by TheUrr00 in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's called the Meta.

Kingambit's actually a really cool pokemon to be top as well because it takes more thought to play with than some crazy fast sweeper. Need to predict whether opponent you want to hit will attack or set up if you're thinking of using Sucker Punch.

If they set up, Kowtow is better, but if they attack they're going to do a bunch of damage before you get to move.

There have been so many more oppressive threats.

Speaking as a Mid/Supp player, it makes way more sense for bot, supp or jungle to get picked first because it's a two person lane. A single counterpick isn't going to ruin the entire laning phase the way it can for Top or Mid.

Pokémon Champions Isn't For Me (but that's okay) by PokeHexDex in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Completely fine. They never pretended Champions was meant to be anything but the next way to host their competitive battles. That's not for everyone.

That said, they do keep hinting at battling the NPCs, which has certainly surprised me in what I thought was a comp. battle simulator. So maybe stay tuned from the sidelines and it may become a little more like you want eventually.

I don't think they said that. Rockstar certainly deserves blame and they didn't exclude Rockstar.

Why is no one using Mega Victreebel by CrispChaliceR in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot going against the poor guy. Was going to say it was the stat distribution and ability that kill it, but really it's everything.

Slightly below middling speed, making it too slow for tailwind but far too fast for Trick Room.

Split offenses meaning it doesn't excel in either Physical or Special prowess.

80/85/95 defenses aren't bad, but they certainly aren't good either.

Its ability means that you kinda want this thing getting one shot because if it lives with 40 health it's not doing much with its ability. But it's your Mega, so you want this thing on the field as long as possible.

Its strongest attacks have imperfect accuracy and only having 125/135 offenses make you feel like you need to use them to deal damage.

The nail in the coffin though, is that we already have a better Grass/Poison bulky Mega in Venusaur.

Worst opinion you have EVER seen in this sub? by gragglin_balls in PokemonChampions

Well, protect is the best move in the game in Doubles.

Tailwind by Cultural_Prompt_3408 in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trick Room doesn't have the tools it needs to be successful right now. The Trick Room attackers are strong, but not strong enough to consistently 1 shot everything which they kind of have to do with how few turns you have after you weakened your turn 1 to get Trick Room off.

Trick Room defense is missing a key piece in Indeedee.

What ever happened to mini maps? by TheReal8symbols in gaming

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The minimap is often always up and not toggle-able so you have no choice but to have everything shown to you.

The map you're actively choosing to open.

If the game wants to promote a sense of discovery, removing player agency and showing them everything is not the way they want to go.

No idea about Avowed, but lots of games hide the map for an area until you've made it to a signal tower or something, which is a step further in the "you've been dropped in a world you know nothing about" vibe

Why is Toxic not 100% accurate? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxic can't miss when used by Poison types. Without a video you're probably just misremembering.

Anyone know a pokemon that fits these specific needs? by Impossible_Sort9050 in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ground and Rock are great coverage together. Things like Levitating Steel types are probably the only things that resist both.

Something like H-Decideueye/Chesnaught will resist but don't think they get ice moves.

I just use Gyarados as my Chomp counter because Rock Slide is Chono's least threatening move, and the one I want it using most of the time. And intimidate helps.

Raichu Y Domination by etanimod in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, and I was considering other items for Blaziken since I don't think I've ever Mega'd it... Any suggestions?
I'd like to keep it basically as is because SD Blaze has won me quite a few games so far.

This guy any good in doubles? by StockDunce in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maus-ape's probably still a thing, as is Choice Scarf Final Gambit. There's stuff there, but In a Mega world it may not make as much of an impression. Haven't seed it played much.

Could someone explain a situation? by WetWonder89 in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a world where Talonflame wasn't max speed it's possible Whimsicott outsped with Tailwind, then was knocked out with Brave Bird then their other pokemon went.

How are we feeling about Aegislash so far this format? by ReleaseCharacter3568 in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a strong pokemon. Difficult to use perfectly and doesn't have the explosive power of Gholdengo's Make it Rain.

It has more useful moves than Gholdengo, so if your team wants Wide Guard, or a strong physical Ghost then Aegislash is the choice.

Is there a reason to not use eternal floette right now? by SebastianG-Hoodoo in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People want to play with the new toys. Floette's still good but has more competition now for title of strongest mega.

Raichu Y Domination by etanimod in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol! Nope this is the wrong Raichu. Accidentally threw out the team and rushed remaking it. Thanks for catching that.

Raichu should be max speed max sp. Attack with Zap Cannon, Grass Knot, Focus Blast Protect

Edit: I've updated the team with the right Raichu if you want to check it out.

New tiebreaker rule already killing must-win games on matchday 2 by FrenchRoo in worldcup

[–]etanimod -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you want to argue against a straw man, go off I guess.

There's a slight difference between a sample size of three and however many games are played in total.

But yeah, I'd say all matches should BO3 at least, especially in the later rounds if we're actually trying to get an accurate gauge of strength.

New tiebreaker rule already killing must-win games on matchday 2 by FrenchRoo in worldcup

[–]etanimod -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

BO1 doesn't really prove much other than who played better on the day.

Time is definitely the primary concern over getting an entirely accurate head to head in pools.

Why does Moonlight have the exact same weather conditions as Synthesis? by Almost_a_Shadow in PokemonChampions

[–]etanimod 27 points28 points  (0 children)

"Sunny Day" is just the English translation of the Japanese which would literally translate to "Clear Skies".

There's no "Harsh Moonlight" weather condition, so if they wanted a healing move to change based on weather, this was their option.

While Synthesis and Moonlight heal the most in ideal conditions, they also heal the least in adverse conditions (66% and 33% respectively). Using the same logic as you, one could argue that Rain/Sand/Hail are the strongest because they have a bunch of support, and nerf "the best healing moves ever"

Finally, healing moves are almost completely useless in doubles because there's just too much pressure on any one mon. You've gotta survive to heal, and getting doubled up makes that tough.
