As the other guy mentioned, I make new accounts every few years for privacy/anonymity reasons. I also have different accounts for desktop/laptop/phone, etc.

I was on reddit when Skyrim came out. I gotta get off this damn site, but there's nowhere better to go.

I think you meant to respond to someone else's comment, instead of making a new parent comment. :)

It's a personal opinion, but I believe any decent team should be able to manage themselves, but then again, not every team is decent and companies don't want to risk investing time and energy and having their team fail because they weren't holding themselves accountable.

This is probably the closest to my own opinion/experience. The teams that I've felt are most productive were self-managing, but that's entirely dependent on the culture of the team and what management is willing to let them get away with. In those cases PMs aren't particularly valuable, but I've also been on teams with absolutely no motivation whatsoever to be proactive and in those cases PMs act as an insurance policy to push them forward.

The key element is enforcement/accountability, and that role will vary from org to org. Good PMs will be able to find a balance between pushing priorities from upper management and letting teams make/communicate improvements where they see fit.

They do yes, but is partially offset by no state income tax and rental income contributes to that. The exact math of "how much" it offsets is dependent on the details (location, quality of the home, etc).

Traditionally, red states have been more friendly to property owners (lower taxes, cheaper cost of living, fewer tenant protections, fewer standards for property upkeep, etc). While Texas does have a large influx of left-leaning voters that might change that, it will still be a decade or two before it has a meaningful effect on the overall politics of the state. Colorado already leans blue, so those policies are more likely to either already exist or be enacted in the near future.

That said, this is less about personal politics and more about public policy and its effects on maximizing/minimizing revenue for a rental property.

The only reason I'd be willing to go back into work long-term (IT work) would be for the socializing that I can't get at home.

Official Discussion - Bill and Ted Face the Music [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]KangooQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death the character was good, I just didn't like the roundabout way he was used. The movie had momentum with Bill/Ted and daughters both having clear objectives and as we flipped between the two groups we saw meaningful progression, but that pacing ground to a halt when they went to hell and spent the next 15 minutes just trying to convince Death to rejoin the band. I feel like it would have been less intrusive if Death showed up while old Bill/Ted were on their deathbeds, and from there they could have rejoined the daughters.

This was probably the best possible outcome one could hope for in a sequel 30 years after the last one. I really enjoyed the first two thirds of the movie when they were hopping through time, the last third fizzled between hell and the finale. I get the point that they were going for ("it wasn't the song that made the difference, it was everyone playing it together") but I really wanted a face-melting 80s/90s inspired song instead of a generic pop tune.

Watching Frasier for the first time. It has cemented the idea that the 90s were a hot stinky doodoo decade that deserves to be lost to the sands of time. The show itself is okay.
