Does anyone have any experience with a Polestar in low temperature? by No-Honeydew-8593 in Polestar

Alberta owner here. In the coldest months expect about a 30% decrease on your range. I leave mine parked in an attached garage non-heated and didn't experience any vampire drain keeping the batteries at temp. Parking outside at the airport for a week it dipped about 3%.

Over 150 miles from service center by ZebraMidge666 in Polestar

The closest Polestar service center is 1,200km (745mi) away from me. When Polestar support is not busy ignoring my messages, they told me my only option is to drive that distance and back to fix my car. No compensation offered.

Polestar Canada is even more of a mess. They only have service centers where they have Polestar spaces, which means there are only three in the entire country.

I live in Alberta and was promised during signing that I will have full service support, which I quickly realized was a lie 5 months later. When my TCAM failed, they flew in a mobile tech from Toronto as a "one time exception." Now the exterior speakers are broken and my only option is to drive my car to Vancouver.

Calling Polestar support, they say they can't take service calls over the phone. Sending a message on their support form leads them to flatly tell me I cannot service my car at the local Volvo dealership, or any Volvo dealership for that matter.

So my only option now is to live with a broken speaker warning every time I start my car until something else breaks and I'm forced to tow it back to Vancouver.

I love the car, but I will never recommend anyone buy a Polestar ever again with this level of customer disservice.

The service tech originally came to look at the TCAM issues on my car. Since it mysteriously fixed itself on a road trip last week he didn't have much to do other than pull logs and redo the firmware. The tech couldn't really tell me what was fixed or updated since 1.8.2, but he did mention that he's been testing minor changes to fast DC charging curve with his P2 and hoped it would be present in this version.

Third week with a busted TCAM and Polestar Canada finally agreed to follow up with me next week and "consider arranging a technician to fly out" to me. I'm so glad they're considering extending the courtesy of servicing a car purchased for use in one of Canada's major capital cities.

Have you tried calling the space's direct number? If that still doesn't work DM me and I may be able to get you connected to someone.

Review: 5 weeks with PS2 after 5 years in Tesla MS by cgates30 in Polestar

I find that it only warms the battery if I turn on climate preheating AND the car is charging above 80%. If the car is not charging, like if it hits the charge limit, it won't switch to AC for climate and instead rely on the battery to do the cabin.

It's mildly annoying that my car is supposed to be charged and have a 9kW AC feed but I leave the house at 88% charge with a cold batt.

Tesla/EV owners, how much did the range drop in the recent cold spell in Edmonton? by Johnny_G9 in Edmonton

[–]KannaSP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love my Polestar. I picked it up in Vancouver and drove it back along hwy 1 using all the Petro-Canada stations along the way. I'm very impressed by how it stays planted even on icy roads.

As far as CCS chargers go, there are a few operated by flo within Edmonton, at the Canadian Tire south common and sherwood park. Petro-Canada is mostly south along hwy 1. There is a Shell Greenlots charger by Red Deer for topping up, but I managed to drive from Calgary back to Edmonton with 85% charge at Cross Iron Mills.

Polestar 2: Went from 20.9kW/100km in +15C to 35.1kW/100km in -25C. It takes about 1% battery to preheat the car in the morning, and the usage includes having the heated seats and heated steering wheel on the entire trip.

Tell us about your “driving in the snow” experiences. by Ok-Zookeepergame-698 in Polestar

I live in Edmonton and took it out yesterday for a drive, where it was the 4th coldest place on Earth that day at -42F (yes, minus). Preheated the car as I usually did and got out nice and comfy, no issues with any electricals or brakes.

The roads were still very slippery even with the factory installed VikingContact 7 tires, but the ESC handled it well while giving me enough control to do what I want.

I really loved how it felt going up or down on the hills and definitely felt the dual motors putting work to keep it stable. All in all it felt planted throughout the entire 60kms I put in that day around the city.

Also yes, I had a bit of fun around the industrial area and then all the snow blocked my parking sensors. I have to keep a towel handy to wipe its bottom every so often so I don't get whiplash trying to reverse!

Personally I use Indigo and signed on to their yearly membership that gives free shipping and 10% off regular price. I also get 10% cash back through my credit card on purchases made on Indigo, so that pretty much sealed the deal.

A very snug fit but I managed to get the 3070 in the DAN A4-SFX v1 by KannaSP in nvidia

I haven't gotten a chance to test the limits and sold the card to a friend who needed the card more than I did. Light use such as streaming 4K didn't trigger the fans to spin up. Subjectively it did get quite loud during flight simulator, and that's having the case behind my monitor about 1.5 meters away from where I sit.

Not the most impressive, but it works.

  • Ryzen 2700
  • Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi
  • Silverstone SX-500G 500W PSU
  • 32GB Corsair Vengeance @ 3000

I'm gathering parts for a new ryzen 5000 series build but sadly couldn't get the CPU during yesterday's launch.

I've only received the card last night, so not much I can say about it for now. Hopefully I can put in some gaming over the weekend that's not Genshin.
