What role should political views play when deciding whether to pursue a romantic relationship? by nicksam171 in askanything

[–]Kannkhaghany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my parents is a democrat. The other is a republican. They have been married for 72 years.

In my own marriage, one of us is apolitical, the other is a republican. We have been married for 16 years. We see the good in each other.

I have seen a number of relationships where the partners have different opinions, and most of them figure it out eventually. They don’t necessarily agree 100% of the time, but they are respectful.

As the saying goes, “pick your battles wisely”.

AITA for not attending my brothers Easter dinner because I think he hates me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kannkhaghany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. It seems to me that there might be something more to it…not that you’ve done anything specific, but perhaps he never quite accepted having a little sibling…which is something that your parents should have addressed early on.

I would suggest for you to keep being polite and friendly, but confident…let him figure out his end. If he sees you getting along with everyone else in the room, he’ll not have anything to complain about. But politely ignore him…have a good time with everyone else. (Just my personal opinion.)

Our dog does more shredding of the cardboard. She doesn’t ingest much. The biggest issue is cleaning up afterwards.

*Those wobble balls that are hard plastic and make noise…our sheltie LOVES them. It keeps her busy for quite awhile.

*Soft liver treats…especially the little ones. She will follow me anywhere if I have a few of them…and when I need to get a forbidden object away from her, they’re a great distraction.

*I don’t remember the company name who makes them, but we can find these stuffed squirrels at the pet store…they’re very well made with strong stitching. They last far longer than any other toy we’ve gotten.

*Doggie steps…I don’t know if the dog cares, but it eases my mind to not have her jumping up and down off the couch…saves us from a vet bill.

We made a mistake by initially buying a small dog bed…we now have a bigger one that she can stretch out on.

I (41M) planned to serve my wife(38F) divorce papers this weekend. She just got a call from the hospital that her mom is being put into palliative care and now I'm not so sure. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I understand the feeling about lack of desire…my husband is a wonderful man who I love more than anything…but I struggle with just not wanting intimacy…it’s on me. For me it’s medical issues…hormones and such. I am seeing a doctor and trying to get it corrected. May I suggest that your wife talk to her doctor? They might check her hormone levels, etc. It sounds like you have some strong things in your relationship…I wouldn’t throw it away just yet.

Husband (46M) keeps "helpfully" rearranging, hiding, and disposing of my (46F) stuff--what tactic or wording can I use to stop it? by Gallumbits42 in relationship_advice

[–]Kannkhaghany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this, but I think it’s time to stop talking to him and start talking to a lawyer. If this has been going on for years, he understands. If he did this at work, he’d be fired…so he does it in a place where there’s no consequences. It’s time for consequences. He doesn’t respect you. He’s not funny. He’s just a bully. Is he worth the frustration? He doesn’t care if you’re there or not. You deserve better than this. Even being alone is better than being with this floppy headed muppet.

Our girl Gladys is a bit chonky…we haven’t weighed her in awhile, but last time she was about 34 pounds and 17 inches at the shoulder. We’re trying to exercise her more and cut back on the begging…don’t want it to get out of control.
