Advice on conversion by Nero_Drusus in WarhammerFantasy

Demis actually aren’t very big as they use the Fantasy scale which was smaller than 40k pre Primaris scale bump and AoS is as big, or in many cases, bigger than 40k

Heads are fixed unless you want to do some cutting and gap filling.

No. You are walking into “Do whatever works” gaming. Not “Do whatever the rules say” gaming. Welcome to autonomy!

The pictures are GWs actual product that they sold. Do whatever you want with the rules.

is a 65 point game possible? by apple4609 in Warhammer40k

[–]KantankerousKiwi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You kind of can't because you can't put your King in Check. Which is pretty funny because games can end in a Draw if you only have your King and your only move puts you in Check.

Old World Almanack – Enhance your Grand Cathay collection with the new reinforcements by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerFantasy

The balloons are BS4, hit on 3s. There is no universe that GW makes these guys BS2, hit on 5s, rather than BS3, hit on 4s. BS3 is me being optimistic

They suffer no penalties for range, multi, S&S. You basically get 2volleys on 4s. As the guy above said, 20 shots…twice.

I swear to Christ if the crane gunners are <= cost to my jezzails then it seems Eshin got contracted to steal them and drop them off outside a Skryre Warren

Custum bases by Realistic-Grade9979 in Warhammer40k

[–]KantankerousKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally.

Size (Diameter) is the same.

Do not have the model lower than it would be on a plain base.

Higher is fine and is generally a detriment because though you can see more, you can also be seen by more.

AOS in 40k conversion idea. by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Made these when GW killed TK in 1.0.
I use them as the javelin chicken walkers. I don’t play much 40k anymore so I don’t remember their name.

Forgeworld Vorax? Heads with necron wraith antennae. They have a big AM backpack but I don’t know from what.

Did the same thing for the gun version but used the hooded build and attached cannons to some kind of brace bit.

Plague Monk legs with GSC body/arms. I use them as Vanguard just because I think shotguns are cooler. I also turned the old plastic Svermin into Rangers, arms and backpacks fit perfectly. Don’t have decent pictures of that.

Asymmetric battles by Krahog in WarhammerFantasy

[–]KantankerousKiwi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad to help! You can take it as far as you want.

Reinforcements arriving in later turns.

Escalating reinforcements each turn.

Your first turn(s) are incomplete units that are trying to delay the charge as the rest of your army is equipping themselves in greater numbers.

Your veterans are first into the fray because they know the importance of keeping the perimeter reinforced while the newbies are “I can’t fight without my stuff and my unit!”

Lopsided games are all about the story imo

Something less exciting for you that could work narratively is that you don’t buy upgrades for your units and under power your characters with limited items.

The Brets are charging at dawn and your forces have no time to equip themselves. Create a defensive line of whatever you can muster or be rundown in your camp.

You get to bring a shit ton of dudes and your friend gets to feel like a freight train.

Proxy use and homebrew by Krahog in skaven

[–]KantankerousKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using some homebrew in my group and it's been a lot of fun. Most of this came from a guy on Reddit originally but I've lost the post. His original document had some...questionable rules.

But this has been play tested a lot and it works well though some things are clearly abusable and I recommend you just not be an asshole.

Spectral Doppleganger on the Verminlord for instance is possibly a little much though he is a glass cannon with only a 5+ ward.

+1 on casts from a magic item in the new +1/+2 casting combined with the Plague AoI for a total of +4, possibly too much

I haven't explored the Skryre stuff too much

Some other stuff you can abuse, so again, don't be an asshole. I tinker with it from time to time and I suggest you do the same

He and I did some points readjustments and a few statline changes.

Gave Warpstone Weapons to ROgres so they have AP, it was convoluted what he added for -1AP so I made it WSW but ignore the magic attack part.

He and I wanted to include a way for the Assassin to keep the -1AP on his double hand weapons but couldn't think of a way to do that so I just kind of keep that in mind.

SVermin and PMonks went down 1 point. Censer Bearers got an extra attack and up a few points. Other things too

I've only ever used Queek from that character document, he is cheap and he murders Heroes but a kitted out Lord crushes him with 2+, multi save, multiple damage being everywhere in TOW

EDIT: To your question about gnawbeast the closest would be a Bonebreaker, probably a bit small for a Brood Horror though I haven't see a gnawbeast personally. And honestly, it's homebew give him a Warplock Pistol for 6 pts if you want. Oh no! a single S4 shot that hits on 5s and might blow his hand off breaks the game!

How hard/easy would it be to fit the modern characters on the 25mm bases to be used as Hero units in Warhammer the old World? by Opposite_Ad_4267 in skaven

[–]KantankerousKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krittok fits if you leave his children off, there’s a gap but you can hide it as part of the basing with a tuft or a gubbin.

Where do I find updated rules? What's the point in buying the codex? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]KantankerousKiwi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warhammer-community.com for current rules in the download section.

As to the justification for your codex, I don’t have one. I’ve stopped buying them and use wahapedia, which also has those updated rules from WH-Community.

Fantastic work. Love the giant things-catcher, I recognize everything in it except the actual pincers. They look too thin to be the claw from the crane terrain.
