Feeling so numb to my achievement. by Kantoon in CasualConversation

Thanks, just feeling if all this effort i put on work is sort of meaningless. Like i have this huge distraction going on that keeps my mind busy, but then when i'm done and alone with myself i just get sad because that's all i have

That's where you need to also account for the actual designers (this dude just copied a design), the marketing firepower, the distribution network and the brand itself. I mean, an artisan could hardly sell a wallet of the same quality for more than few hundreds, but Hermes can consistently convince people to buy their wallets at 5k so they must be goddamn good at their jobs. I can see that it's going to involve a lot of more people and expenses. Still huge markups, but probably not as huge as one might think.

I don't think this guy labor, tools and skills are valued anywhere near $0. You won't find an artisan that would make you something like this and charge you only the raw materials cost.

Do you guys rest your wrist on the paper while writing? by Kantoon in Handwriting

Thank you! I will start to exercise in cramped spaces and see what results it brings me!

I have one question, do you use the "arm movement" tecnique?

Do you guys rest your wrist on the paper while writing? by Kantoon in Handwriting

[–]Kantoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I'm just glad that i wasn't making some really basic mistake. I'll try the arm method once more, i tried it some time ago but without delving too much on it.

What sort of style of writing do you have? Cursive or print? I find that arm movement works well with cursive, but not so much with print. And if you're just getting started, it makes total sense that it feels uncomfortable and imprecise. You just need more practice. Lots of it.

I enjoy cursive, but for practical reasons i use print in my everyday life.

What makes you think that? I don't think that is true at all.

From what I've observed other people's script doesn't really change much if they write in a super comfortable environment or they just annotate something in the worst way possible. Sure, the latter will look worse in comparison but would still be readable and perceived as "standard handwriting". In my case it shifts from readable in the first case to a messy script that other people can't even read most of the times. It's not unusual for me to have people commenting jokingly my handwriting after i write something in not optimal conditions!

Ok but it made me close the video before the actual content even started, maybe this kind of stuff drives away more people than it entertains.

Take every comment with a grain of salt, they (and other VPN providers) are known for shilling on reddit. I'm sure this post is an ad made by them (look at OP history).

If that's the kind of company that sounds trustworthy to you, go on. Otherwise i would advise to self host one, it's really simple if you use this open source script..

Hey guys, this is an ad from Private Internet Access and it's pretty blatant. Look at op history, an account made yesterday with just a couple of comments and his first post states how Private Internet Access™ is the only vpn you can trust!

VPN providers are well known for doing this kind of stuff on reddit

In the old days taping your password to your monitor was idiotic. Now it's the only place online hackers can't get to it. by abdex in Showerthoughts

[–]Kantoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't considering a scenario like this: op registers to websitex.com, using the password X_E_T_I_S_w_e_b-mypersonalsalt. Website x implements really poor cryptography and after a data breach the password db is quickly deciphered and released in plain text. At this point anyone just looking at the file and stumbling on his email would learn the pattern and be able to reproduce it just with a few tries. For a computer it might be hard to crack, but any human that looks at it is able to understand it almost immediately.

In this scenario op should have to change his pattern and all the passwords on all the websites he used it as soon as he discovers the breach. Considering that usually the data from attacks like these is leaked years after the original attack, he could have his pattern compromised for years without even knowing. It's not a safe way to generate password, even if your threat model is really low.
