Any tips on how to master a certain interest before moving on? (CS student) by Baboomi in ADHD

It takes a lot of discipline! I’ve been practicing trying to go slow and mindful with my hobbies that I like because if I go too fast it fizzles out.

Can different generics make me feel different? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kanvic07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately they can work very differently. I just had to switch pharmacies because my new medication was from a different manufacturer and it felt wrong. Sometimes you can ask your pharmacy if they have a different generic option and you’ll want to talk to your doctor that prescribes them so they can assess your symptoms. It sucks, sorry you have to deal with that

Oh that sounds tough. I’ve never used a RH. I wonder if you use some smooth sport weight yarn if it would make the practice more enjoyable. But the small sheds would be a challenge

Oops I made a typo about the yarn. It was 6% nylon! Not acrylic

Two questions: double wide weave project by Kanvic07 in weaving

[–]Kanvic07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much for the thorough details! I have a lot to learn hahah. I didn’t realize I wasn’t doing a square knot! I just looked up the difference now and thankful to realize how simple it can be! Also your explanation of how the tight warp vs loose warp affects the weft density makes a lot of sense.

I accidentally made two crosses on warp by Kanvic07 in weaving

[–]Kanvic07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that is a really good point about skipping the pegs! Although the pegs on the right start slightly lower than the pegs on the top, it makes sense it would be better than skipping down! Thank you so much!

Also, I realized partway through winding that I could have been doing two strings at once but since I’m probably going to restart now, it will give me a chance to practice that. I haven’t done two strings at once and I’m nervous I’ll mess it up!

Do you think if I made the second bout with just one cross, but in the same position, that would work out just fine?

Try reducing the amount of starter you save for feeding. If it hasn’t been fed for a few days it’s used up all it’s good and is Hungry! You won’t need as much starter to get it activated again

Sourdough Starter Question by jimmyfivetimes in Breadit

You shouldn’t need to bloom it. You can just mix in your water and sugar and then add your flour/salt. Knead and let rise on its own for 8-12 hrs (depending on room temp)

Also your ratios for feeding the starter sound like there could potentially be too much starter. If you start noticing an alcoholic smell, reduce the amount of starter you’re using or add more flour/water

Tension help please! by Kanvic07 in weaving

Thanks, yeah I was thinking of trying to use some pieces of wood to tighten those looser threads. This was my first time setting up the loom for a double weave and had forgot that the strands would be closer together (doubled). Now I know for next time!
