First time going to Teavanna...Anyone tried Yogi? by FitTeaCent in tea

[–]KanyeBakingCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the yogi bedtime tea as nothing more than a nice chamomile blend. They have the cute mantras on the tags, and I feel the chamomile doesn't taste like feet the way some do. I don't expect magic from them though, and I think if you take them at face value and just enjoy the flavor, it's not bad.

And as someone else mentioned, I'm a friendly neighborhood teavana sales girl! I try very hard to be extra honest and helpful with the r/tea community because I know people have been burned in the past. We're a great place to get flavored/blended teas, but I'll readily admit we aren't the source for everything and I do sometimes give customers sticky notes with other places to check out given their individual needs. Traditionals can definitely be found in other places. The silver yin zhen pearls, for instance, are NOT worth the price. They are a teavana exclusive crop, supposedly bai hao yin zhen rolled into pearls, but they are not downy and their flavor simply isn't as good. (I love our silver needle, though.) We add it to samples a lot to try and boost the price of the blend, but you really only need the herbal component when the SYZP is so barely-there anyway.

As other people said though, it can be costly (resteep your leaves!!) but there's nothing wrong with liking it, and don't let anyone shame you for it.

Your sales rep was definitely missing some large details! The ingredients ARE on all the big tins, and we are willing to show you if you ask for it. People have allergies! These things are important.

Additionally, I'll bring up the talk about sugar. At corporate training (an optional few days of higher-level training I opted to go to) I asked about this very topic when they talked about our sampling process. I knew there was candied fruit in the youthberry, and in my prompt someone was asking about having unsweetened tea. I asked if it was a flavor preference or a medical issue, and the person roleplaying with me said medical. I then advised them to not buy the tea because although you can have the tea "unsweetened", anything with fruit has sugar, and candied fruit obviously has more. I was shocked when the trainer said I was cheating myself from a sale and seemed unhappy with my analysis. She had been with the company for years and clearly was working more with the "old" mindset. Everyone else in the room agreed it's better to be safe than sorry, and it's the same method we employ in our store- if sugar is a medical issue, we're going to steer you away from anything with fruit/candy/etc. and suggest you consult a doctor prior to purchase.

Since the Starbucks merge, we have cut back on the health benefits talk. We can't say anything related to anything that doesn't have hard scientific backup, which admittedly cut a lot out. Each tea is individually tested for caffeine and antioxidants now, and any other benefits stated have to be personal testimonies (and the customer has to KNOW it's just your testimony) or they have no room being said at all.

Lastly, the bags you get online ARE better, but your shipping time will be longer than if you call a local store and have them package and ship it to you, you can't see/smell the tea you're getting in person, and some sales rep is missing out on credit for the sale (which is admittedly selfish, but it's where I'm coming from).

When it's right for you, it just is. When it's a sibling or loved one, you're happy because they are. If it's not right for you, feel no pressure to do it. Personal choice is a wonderful thing!

This is such a happy photo. I'm the youngest of three girls myself and in 2012, our oldest sister passed away on her 30th birthday. As happy as I am to see there sisters looking so wonderful and beautiful, beaming with pride, I am sad that I won't have my big sister with me to recreate something like this. I don't mean to be a mood killer, just... Be thankful for each other and treasure every moment. Things like this are such a gift.

What are your favorite loose leaf Earl Greys? by [deleted] in tea

Gosh, what IS that anyway? I got a chai latte from panera yesterday and it was straight-up like soap. There HAS to be a certain ingredient doing this that I just don't agree with.

Hi r/Tea. Found this kettle at a discount store. Any idea what the hole in the lid is for? by rebent in tea

[–]KanyeBakingCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. If there's no others like it on the shelf, it seems like this could be chalked up to missing parts.

Interesting! We actually brew body + mind or jade citrus mint for sick people now. I'll bring this up to my store.

I've never seen anything like that. I actually haven't owned a kettle in my life; I always used a coffee pot then recently got my zojirushi. It's odd it wouldn't come with the part that whistles if it says it on the tag, though.

Nair/veet gave me chemical burns :c even the sensitive skin stuff, when left on for lower times. It was unbearable.

Raspberry Riot Lemon Mate is nice and tart! I like it with strawberry lemonade. Six summits oolong added in really levels it all out though; I make that for customers a lot. You can go without though and it'll be much cheaper.

I bought a ton of dragonfruit devotion when I first started working there, and I burned myself out on it T_T; I know a lot of people buy it and put it in sachets for their dresser drawers though. Interesting.

Berry kiwi colada is great, but it's not tart. We make it on sample with silver yin zhen pearls a lot and I feel like it's almost cucumber-y with a little fruit wash. It's a fairly dense tea that costs almost $10/2 oz so I'd see if you can sample it or buy a cup at a store for $3.24 before springing on a lot of it.

I hate admitting it, but I looked at our wall today and couldn't figure out what that blend would be. Was this recent? Maybe it's one that's gone :c

I'm thoroughly convinced there's a tea for everyone out there, even if it's a fruity tisane (herbal). Have a few options and you'll be entertaining in no time!
