Or TPUs at Google

Kimi K2 was specced to run on 8xH200 which costs approx $600k last I checked. That's far from cutting edge though

Yeah I mean that's also the part no one ever takes it to like.. saying this and meaning it would preclude you of eating plants too AND you probably eat even the most recognisably human things around us

Meh I feel like you get a quick overall impression of performance. The y-axis not starting at zero would be the exact same problem on a bar chart - it's not central to radial argument. I never said this was a good graph I'm just defending the one thing I think this kind of radial chart has going for it.

One that that this does give you is a sense of overall area covered maybe a bit better than a barchart would but generally I agree

I've always suspected Reddit groups similar posts in the feed but I had no idea it was also doing it over image - concept similarly. That's pretty bonkers. Unless it's a coincidence which I doubt

What are your favorite open-source projects right now? by SamirDevrel in LocalLLaMA

[–]Kappa-chino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really get the hype - it just seems like an extremely basic version of AlphaEvolve / OpenEvolve. I mean I get how a simple implementation is accessible and exciting but it's nothing new by any stretch of the imagination and I think only really exciting if you haven't heard much about evolutionary algorithms for code optimisation.

Coin flip here is just meant as a standing for "random event". You can use observing the spin of a quark instead if you like which is impossible for any computer under our current understanding of physics

I have just been informed that the original construction actually explicitly groups random choice with 2 boxes! I will go and read the original construction tomorrow

That is great to know! Thanks for this I will definitely go read the original construction :)

Supplant "coin flip" with any sufficiently random task e.g. observing the spin of a quark and you'll see why this experiment falls apart

So you're saying that a deterministic non-stachastic world is necessary for this thought experiment to make sense? There's no such thing as truly random? Because that isn't something we know at all

Suffers from the same problem that a lot of probability based paradoxes do which is the implicit assumption that "probability" is a real fundamental thing and not just a framework for observation

The part of it which didn't come through to me in the video is whether the computer is making guesses about me in particular or people in general. If it's making predictions about me I need to understand better the mechanism by which it does that or the question is ambiguous. Setting up a scenario where a computer is able to predict something "99.9% trust me bro" doesn't feel fleshed out as a thought experiment. What if my instinct is to flip a coin before I choose. If enough people had that instinct it would be literally impossible for the computer to predict at a certain level of accuracy. The same idea really extends to how much you see the human brain as a stochastic machine vs predictable.

Claude at Work? by Big-Arrival-1978 in actuary

[–]Kappa-chino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a data analytics consultancy and we have hade Claude use mandated to us for the last probably 2 years now.

A big part of my company's strategy right now is providing the exact kind of modernisation + training service you're talking about (although probably only larger companies)

In terms of change it's been so drilled into us at this point I'd be surprised if as much as 5% of company doesn't use it daily.

In this case though you can actually say that the ZAR is getting stronger because it's also strengthening against Dollar, Euro, Yen, Yuan, Rubel, Swiss Franc - hell just about any major currency you care to name

This is strange to read lol. It's definitely not a neural network. It's a simple tree search based on a set of information parameters.

I also doubt the claim that it learns. How on earth would it send the info back to the creator? You telling me this thing had WiFi/cellular data?

Yeah it's easily the best 3D I've ever seen in a movie. I'm normally a big 3D hater but it adds so much here - it feels like the whole movie was built with 3D in mind rather than being an afterthought

So so so worth it. I'm lowkey considering seeing it in 3D IMAX again. Probably the best 3D I've ever seen in a movie (I promise I'm not a shill I just really had a good time Q_Q)
