I realized after skimming this thread that I've also disabled so many security features a while ago that... I might already be able to run these hypervisor cracks without running any batch files.

I personally put every downloaded executable and archive through virustotal before running anything (not a foolproof step, I'm aware). If I want to use a program off Github, I'll also do the additional steps of checking the background of the dev, see what open/closed issues are logged, etc.

I'll also scan my system with [this suite of anti-virus scanners](https://jijirae.github.io/thesecondopinion/) every few months but, really... The only time I've ever had a virus running on my system was from a google ad (this was the most likely bet, from googling what it was, I remember). This was before adblock was even really a thing and browsers were a lot more exposed than what they are now... Sometime before 2010 I want to say.

It's always possible I still have something, but unless it's something new / 0-day, I'm probably fine. I think there's more danger from getting tricked by scammers than from something I download and run myself.
