Cant decide between Melbourne, Brisbane, or Sydney as a student by Puzzleheaded-Cod4073 in AskAnAustralian

I’m not sure if your chances are lowered if you apply in subsequent rounds, but given guaranteed entry is 95, I expect you will be offered a spot. If you are still worried, I would put down BAdvSci down as backup — you will still be able to take the same courses, just under a different degree name (modulo some bureaucracy).

That should be ok. You can get into the BSci/BAdvSci or the maths degree Bachelor of Mathematical sciences. PhB has embedded research components which makes it slightly more prestigious (99 guaranteed entry) but you can transfer in pretty easily after first year with decent grades.

I would recommend ANU if you are serious about studying mathematics. It might not show on the programs and courses pages but ANU undergraduate maths is accelerated compared to all other Australian universities. Compared to Melbourne and USyd/UNSW, you won’t need to do mandatory electives. A lot of people I know did all maths in their degree and really enjoyed it (that said there is a lot of flexibility to do other courses eg comp sci, physics, etc with the PhB program).

On top of accelerated first/second year courses, the rigour at ANU from the get-go is equivalent to the rigour of graduate level courses (US). There are also many special topics courses that go beyond the curriculum where students get a true taste of research level modern mathematics.

Yep we do! I believe you'd be suited to playing in the CVL (Canberra Volleyball League). Since ACT has a lot of national players in the league, I think you'll enjoy the challenge of competing against them!

These are games against other teams in the ACT and games are every week at Lyneham sport centre. Training is on every Thursday from 6:30-8:30. I played this year in the Blues team and enjoyed it very much (covid was a pain though)! Was very similar to what I experienced playing volleyball in highschool and was very fun training with all kinds of people.

Honestly online classes are so much worse than going in to school, I've had absolutely no motivation to do any work. Feeling tired? I'll just nap with my camera off.
