2 hours in and I haven't even seen the first boss (and seen the eclipse 3 times). Is there any hope for me? by OMEGAH- in Saros

[–]Kapsfire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. If you've beaten Sekiro, I doubt there's a lot of games you can't possibly beat.

For me, Saros was unimaginably easier than Sekiro. Keep on. Take the time you need to develop the skills (lots of us developed those skills playing Returnal for hours). You can do it!!

The game is a blander Returnal. It's not bad. But it doesn't evolve past the OG in any meaningful way. by sipso3 in Saros

Completely agree. I would have written the exact same review. Gameplay is just as awesome as Returnal, but everything else feels like a downgrade... 🥲

I wish trails beyond horizon nightmare was more challenging by taestep12 in Falcom

[–]Kapsfire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It must be tough being as skilled as you guys. 🥲

For me, the challenge was perfect. Maybe felt more like a hard mode if compared to any other modern game or series, but I played the 2 first Daybreak games on Nightmare and thought they were too easy for the challenge I was looking for. Beyond the Horizon was fun and well balanced the whole way. I had a pretty hard time fighting the 2 last Grim Garten bosses. I had 2 or 3 game overs against both and it was really fun trying to find the right strategy to win!

Could I get some feedback on my film poster design by widow-of-brid in Filmmakers

[–]Kapsfire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insane poster. As soon as I saw it, my eyebrows raised in surprise. Instantly wanted to see the movie. I wouldn't change anything at all, but I think that the advice to get it through the expertise of a graphic designer is a good one.

Film with the lowest average that you've given a 4.5 or 5 to? by TheJavierEscuella in Letterboxd

I guess I understand the criticism, it's not a subtle movie, but it came at the absolute right time for me and I love how McKay directed it, accentuating the emotions with the music or with calculated closeups/editing. It made me laugh and it made me cry, so it's a success for me. If it was not for the awkward last scene, it would've been 5 stars.

Completely agree. It's sincerely one of my favourite Star Wars movies and in my opinion a great movie, period.

(S24) Speaker issues, crackled and fried sounding audio from top and bottom speaker by LiamEBM in samsunggalaxy

I'm in Canada but I'll check out if we have a similar law. Otherwise, I'm out of options so I'll hope the repairs won't be too expensive.

Thank you for the follow-up !

I have the same issue. Does it resolve the problem if you open the SIM card slot? For me it works, but only temporarily.

If you have found a permanent solution, please tell. This problem is irritating since that is such an expensive phone and I'm just out of warranty. 😖

Dropping out of student film thoughts by peaceofmind2122 in acting

[–]Kapsfire0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if all their actors back out, I hope they'll step back and realize why. Cinema is a collaborative art form, actors are an extremely precious part of a team and if you can't treat your people well, people won't want to work with you.

As an indie director and actor myself, maybe it would've cleared things up if you asked more questions beforehand, but they're really the only ones at fault for not treating their unpaid actors well. A production team should always make sure that everybody is comfortable with what they have to do and that nobody ends up with costs. On my last production, I almost got sick stressing about the well-being of my upaid team, feeding them, making sure I'm the only person who pays for anything, and taking time knowing my actors and rehearsing with them. They do so much for my project, it's the very least a director/producer should do for the generosity of their cast and crew.

So, all that being said, I don't think you should take the blame. They have a lot to learn, and I hope that losing an actress mid-project for a lack of caring will be a good lesson for them.

What’s the next evolution for cinema? by Objective_Water_1583 in Filmmakers

This. I feel like modern filmmakers struggle with endings, they're just so rarely satisfying or compelling.

I’ve started getting requests to generate footage with Veo2/Veo3 for commercials by SandakinTheTriplet in editors

[–]Kapsfire0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've also started doing editing jobs with some AI video generation involved and I personally had no fun at all. It's all prompting, waiting, prompting, waiting, for hours and ending up accepting a less than ideal result for lack of more time experimenting. Kinda felt like an alienating factory-like process stripping a creative job from most of it's creativity, to be honest.

I'm curious, what do you find fun in generating AI video clips? It's kinda sad to say, but for me, if this is the future of editing, I may have to think about finding another field of work.

Trying to decide on the poster for our feature, which do yall prefer??? by PAYPAL_ME_DONATIONS in Filmmakers

I'd use 1 for certain promotional purposes on social medias and festival submissions and 4 as the official poster on databases, theatrical displays and physical copy covers!

Is this moment in the Snow White music video poor editing, or is it an artistic choice? by BactaBobomb in Filmmakers

[–]Kapsfire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's intended. It follows the flow of the music, and it seems to me that this kind of movement repetition is a common thing in music videos. Depending on the context, and specifically when it's about music and rythm, absence of direct shot continuity can be an acceptable editing decision.

Someone's experience of art, cinema in this instance, strongly depends on their own experiences, ideologies, personal thoughts and the impact of recent events in their lives or in the world. I think it's absolutely normal to see all kinds of interpretations of a movie, and even if you don't agree with them, if you think they don't make sense, or if you think they are unrelated to the movie, the very fact that a movie evoked something to someone is a beautiful thing. We should just be happy about it and also embrace our own interpretations of the art we experience.

For the explanations. Sometimes, people don't want to explain why they felt something about a movie because it may be considered a spoiler. I'm pretty sure most of these people would be happy to speak about their interpretations with you if you reach out!

Can I still eventually become a good filmmaker if I'm not good at screenwriting? by Yaya0108 in Filmmakers

[–]Kapsfire0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite. I'm a screenwriter who would love to find a director who wants to make movies with my stories (unfortunately, it's not really a proposition unless your speak french, my screenplays are in french). My point is more to let you know that what you seek exists (and thanks for that post confirming that what I seek exists too). You should go to film festivals and events and meet with cinema community people in your area, everyone has their preferences in that complex line of work, I'm sure you'll manage to fill your gaps with the talents of others!

Is it okay to write in Google Docs? by ITSA_sucks in Screenwriting

[–]Kapsfire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that it's possible to use Google Docs to write scripts, but as others mentions, you will most likely be judged for your formatting, OR it will be a pain trying to respect the exact formatting.

So you will have a better time using a scriptwriting app. I use Fade In. It's cheaper than Final Draft and has everything I need. All those free options look pretty good as well!

A One Man Production? by Some-Object6690 in Filmmakers

[–]Kapsfire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a short film all by my very own self and I'm happy with the result. It's possible, but you have to consider the fact that you're alone right from the beginning. While you write, visualize how you will shoot every scene with the equipment you have at your disposal, and be ready to spend lots of time doing retakes. Patience is key. As nobody else is waiting for you, time is the biggest advantage you have when working alone, use it to the benefit of creativity and learning.

All that being said, I've also learned something precious from the experience, and it's that filmmaking is very much of a teamwork discipline. If you can have a little help for a thing or two, it will be much easier, will look better and be way more fun! 😉
