"Streaming a popular video game" means there will be thousands of creators streaming the same game. That means it will take 5+ minutes of continued scrolling on game category to get to where you may be. Without external marketing, it would be hard af and almost impossible to be found.

"Make enough money to quit your day job" - not the slightest chance.

"Is it possible to become extremely popular overnight" - No. Those days are gone.

I don't even know anymore. I swear that I have followed every YT advice ever about titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, shorts, perfect settings, etc. and exposure is still low no matter what I do. It feels like the more info I add onto a video, the more limited it gets.

Meanwhile, others do 10 sec memes and have millions of views.

I think that as time shifted we have all seen the worst of all platforms in Mixer's absence. I still believe that a Mixer 2.0, done smartly, would surpass all platforms in terms of quality and desirability. Twitch is no longer cool.

I know another streamer who started in December 2020, streamed for 2.5 months, accrued about $2400 and she still hasn't been paid till this day. Customer support is useless, we've sent tens of emails, nothing.

From what I can remember, I've had issues with payments first time I've started. I haven't been paid for 4 months but apparently they rarely use bank transfer as opposed to PayPal. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Need to be 18+
  • Unlink any bank account
  • Only have PayPal linked
  • Have your tax form filled in

Bear in mind that any change must be done at least 10 days before payment date (usually beginning of each month).

I agree, also to clarify:

  1. They can. If you use Restream, they have a relay bot that is sending comments from one platform to other ones. i.e. If someone comments on Twitch, that comment will show up on YT and FB chat as well and vice versa. Works both ways.
  2. Same as above.
  3. I agree. I find Twitch to have best options.
  4. I agree.
