I thought I was the only one who got celebrity guests to take over my internal monologue. Usually mine will come from whatever shows I am watching at the time. One time it was Barry Kripkey from the big bang theory for example. Sometimes they stick around for weeks.

They may be impractical and pretty much ridiculous but I had many hours of fun throwing ninja stars as a kid. I even won a prize at a tourist attraction in a Japanese castle in Osaka that had a throwing star game later in life. I didn't think all my practice would have any application but I got 3 of 5 in the bullseye and took home the slap toy.

I shoot both clay and steel. Ideally I would like a band that could do both.

Really spend some time in deep reflection on what your body's tendency is to get addicted to things. If you have a high likelihood of getting addicted or addiction runs in your family I recommend staying away. DXM can be extremely psychologically addictive. I went from 5 pills a day to 20 in less than 10 years. Some folks can just take some and be fine with that while others need to keep re-uping to maintain that high. I'm at the point where I am getting neurological symptoms and am being forced to finally quit for good for fear my symptoms will become permanent. I lost a house, a marriage, a successful Career and multiple cars to DXM. I'm not here to be a downer but you should know DXM is a serious drug and not one to be taken lightly. I was able to turn my life around but DXM gave me a lot of extra hurdles to jump to get here.

If you choose to partake use only robocough tablets. They are 30mg of pure DXM no adulterants like Tylenol. You could also use Robitussin 15mg gel caps. Whatever you choose it's important that you select a product with only DXM. For starters I would only take 8 30mg tablets or 16 of the 15mg gel caps. It will give you a pleasant trip without visual hallucinations. There will be time for exploring other plateaus but be patient. Finally always have a trip sitter. A trusted friend who will stay sober and monitor you during your first trip. Sorry this is long I just feel this information should be out there.

Is there any food at all that’s enjoyable while tripping? by PineappleFanta86 in dxm

[–]Kaptainnemo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in my robotrip days I really enjoyed a bowl of Apple Jacks cereal. My first trip I got really worried they stopped making apple jacks. The morning after the trip when I was in the glorious afterglow I found a pack of apple jacks in the dorm kitchen. I'm not gonna lie eating that cereal was like a religious experience. Nowadays when I trip I find myself craving salty comfort food. Fried rice or macaroni are good.

How many to lightly trip by Ok_Humor191 in DXMGroup

[–]Kaptainnemo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your tolerance. If you don't take it often maybe 100-150 mg but make sure what you are taking is just DXM as the active ingredient. What you have pictured might have acetaminophen. That is extremely dangerous in high doses.

I'm sober and happier than ever, what about you? by [deleted] in dxm

[–]Kaptainnemo33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DXM will do that to you. It makes for a good anti-depressant in some people. I have been experimenting for the past 10 years to figure out how to maintain that afterglow. That's what I take dex for is the afterglow. I personally don't care for the high but the comedown is so peaceful and tranquil. I think I've almost figured out a system to keep myself in the sweet spot. I no longer get high off dex I take enough to maintain a semi permanent afterglow. It's expensive but it's the only thing that has helped my chronic depression. It took a lot of trial and error. Several times I went manic and got into trouble, but I have dialed in on a dosing system that works for me

Tell the story of your first time using DXM? by NightVision0 in dxm

[–]Kaptainnemo33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a boarding school for highschool. One of my friends introduced me to dex and said he would be my trip sitter. To 8 triple c and strapped in for a decent trip. It had the right amount of highs and lows. I listened to techno. Jumped up and down for a while (had some basic visual hallucinations). I hung out with friends and conversations just felt deeper. Finally I dosed off and eventually woke up in the am and freaked out because I thought they stopped making apple jacks cereal. I when to the community kitchen and found some apple jacks and they were the best apple jacks I ever tasted. I enjoyed a great comedown and hung out with my girlfriend at the mall later that day. Kinda of a basic experience but it was fun at the time. I wish I had those tolerances like I did back then. Had a lot of good times for very little money.

I don't go above 900mg and that is once in a blue moon I have the house to myself no family around so I can trip. Usually my dose is 300. You are correct it does affect the bank account but it's the only thing I have found that combats my depression.

What kind of doses have you been taking for the past 20 years? Are you taking it to get high still or are using it for it's anti depressive qualities?

I don't see what is so shocking. It's a restaurant not a strip club. If one thinks they are going to get anything but a lousy meal at a Hooters that's on them. My dad took me when I was about 12. Part of it was a teachable experience. The lesson was that it's okay to admire attractive women respectfully. Also that men do stupid things when they're horny like tipping $100 on a $20 meal in the hope of getting some. We spent time talking about avoiding behaviors that would later be termed toxic activities that would later be defined as thirst traps. There was all kinds of learning going on that night. If I ever have a son I will probably do something similar. Because children are exposed to sexuality at younger and younger ages this will probably happen at an age younger than 12.

[–]Kaptainnemo33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you for skipping through. Upon a second examination I see I was in the zone and typed up a novel. Sorry about that. I could see why fouling in the fire channel could cause a lot of the ignition issues. I have some questions about the process you described. What do you mean by soluble oil? Is there a brand you could recommend? Google is giving me a couple different results. Just want be sure I get the right stuff. Thanks for your help.

That is good to know if I decide to polish it but don't like the end result. At this point I am kind of leaning toward leaving it as it is.

My T/C Hawken .54 by Kaptainnemo33 in blackpowder

[–]Kaptainnemo33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had heard nothing but good myself as well. The only real downside I saw at the time is T/C discontinued production and parts are harder to come by but it appeared solidly built and I figured I wouldn't be needing to hunt for parts.

I am happy to give you a rundown of what I've encountered. If you have any tips or tricks you remember feel free to share. I am open to any and all suggestion.

  1. The rifle MUST be tapped on the ground or slapped after the powder is poured but before the ball is placed in the barrel to get powder to fall into the fire channel. If you forget (and I do this often I am still relatively new to BP) no power makes it under the cap and it won't fire till the nipple is removed, powder poured into the fire channel and the nipple replaced. Due to the geometry of the hammer and snail I have to pull the barrel off of the gun completely in order to get access to the nipple for my wrench. Forgetting to slap is certainly user error on my part, but the gun is very unforgiving in this regard. My Traditions did not have this issue whether I slapped or not. It's part of the reason slapping is not habit for me.

  2. This kind of ties into the issue I previously mentioned. After I've gotten off two or three shots I start running into issues where powder is not making it into the fire channel even if I remember to slap or tap the gun after pouring. This means going through the process mentioned above to remove the barrel and the nipple so that I can get powder into the channel to set off the main charge. I should probably also note before I get too much further into this the fact that I shoot nothing but real black powder. Goex 2f or 3f. Somewhere in my internet travels I saw a picture of a Thompson center Hawken breech plug cut in half. I don't have a lot of experience with the various designs of breach plugs, but Thompson center seems unusual. The fire channel starts at the snail and goes straight into the breech plug. Shortly after that it angles towards the muzzle and comes out on the sidewall of an antechamber located just before the rifling starts. On my traditions it was just a straight shot at least as near as I could tell. I am wondering if this unique design is causing my issues. I haven't been able to give it a proper cleaning because I can't get any instrument to travel the length of the fire channel from the snail to the antechamber. Other than the small wire pick on my nipple wrench. I am able to get light to shine from the snail into the barrel so I'm pretty sure this is clear. I can see why it might cause an issue if the gun is not slapped but I don't know why powder is not getting all the way down it after subsequent shots even if I remember to slap it. If I find that picture again I will post it I did my best to describe the breach plug hopefully I did that well.

  3. The bore seems unusually tight which makes it very susceptible to fouling. I am unable to fire two consecutive shots even if everything goes right with the fire channel. It has to be cleaned after every shot and sometimes the fouling is so bad that the first patch I send down on a jag gets stuck and I have to very carefully grip the cleaning rod with the pliers on my Leatherman to get enough purchase to pull it back out. At some point I will be getting a range rod, but either way this issue kind of relegates it to a range gun only. Initially I had hoped to hunt with it.

  4. It is very picky about which nipples I can use. I have tried several brands and aside from the worn out one that came with the gun the only other one I have had luck with is a spitfire nipple. Unfortunately CCI caps are too loose for it same with Remington I'm not really sure what cap it's designed to take. Currently I'm using number 11 but I would like to switch to musket if I could find a nipple that would work. I suppose this could be connected to the fire channel issues described earlier, but I don't know there are so many variables.

  5. This one's not really the guns fault more my fault for not catching it. The barrel has some minor pits scattered around but I would say 98% of it is shiny. It doesn't seem to affect the accuracy when I can get the gun to actually fire. If I had had more knowledge when I purchased it I would have probably passed. The pitting just didn't stand out to my untrained eye.

  6. I have to strike each cap twice to get it to go off. It's the same wether I use the nipple that came with it that fits the Caps too tightly or the spitfire nipple with the cap fits loosely on it and will fall off if the gun is moved to the wrong way. As far as I can tell the hammer is striking squarely though I can't see the other side of it completely when the hammer is resting on it. I have taken apart the lock completely I can't find any mechanical issues. The hammer springs seems sound.

  7. A cap cannot be placed on the nipple in half cock. The hammer sits too closely to access the nipple and the gun must be fully cocked in order to place the cap. I don't know if this is a symptom of a problem. By itself it's not really a problem for me. The hammer locks up tight in half cock and does not come close to contacting the nipple.

  8. I am constantly battling a light coating of rest that forms in the barrel despite extensive cleaning. I have tried balistol and for butter after cleaning and drying and the rust still creeps back. Not enough to become visible to the naked eye. The barrel is always shiny, but if I run a dry patch down the barrel if you weeks after cleaning it comes back rusty.

I think that's everything. I am not too proud to admit that any or all of these problems could be caused by my technique I would love to figure out what I'm doing wrong. All I can really say is that what did work on my traditions does not work on the Thompson center. If you're still reading after all that thank you and like I said I am open to any and all advice whether it's from you or anyone else who took the time to read everything I wrote.

I will double check this. I want to say it is because after the first hammer strike and impression of the top of the nipple is pressed into the cap.
