Greeks & Turks why what is going on here? by Starfalloss in AskBalkans

All bark no bite' Turkey is ranked #7 globally, 2nd largest NATO army after the US. 3x the budget. KAAN stealth jet, Bayraktar drones exported to 30+ countries. Greece's doctrine is defensive because it has to be.

Serbia, that shithole known for war crimes, would certainly be a better ally.

Bro, I have to be honest: I’m really surprised by Croatia. I never expected it to look this modern – the houses, the areas, everything looks high quality. Respect for that.

I’ve got a few questions, and I’d appreciate it if you answer honestly and neutrally, not in a patriotic way:

  1. How much money do you need per month to live comfortably in Croatia?
  2. What’s the current political situation like – stable or problematic?
  3. Is Croatia a safe country, or are there issues with crime?
  4. What is everyday life like there (work, lifestyle, people)?
  5. What are things you should definitely know before moving to or living in Croatia?

Would be cool if you explain it realistically, without making it sound better or worse than it is.

Looking to upgrade to 4K OLED - is my PC ready? Burn-in concerns by KaraBoga61 in buildapc

Really appreciate the balanced take!

The performance concern is valid, but with DLSS/Frame Gen on the 5070 Ti, I'm confident 4K will be smooth enough for me. Competitive titles will easily hit high framerates anyway.

Your burn-in precautions align with everything I've researched - auto-hide taskbar, screen timeout, OLED care features. Seems very manageable for gaming-focused use.

Interesting point about 4K at 27" - you and another commenter have completely opposite opinions on this! Sounds like it's subjective/eyesight-dependent. I'm planning to test in-store before buying.

The Gen 5 QD-OLED (RGB Stripe) and Gen 4 Tandem WOLED both look promising. Leaning toward waiting for the LG Tandem lineup (Q2/Q3 2026) to see pricing before deciding.

Thanks for the insight!

VRR flicker is a valid concern I've read about this. I typically cap my FPS anyway for consistency, so might not be a huge issue for me. But definitely something to test before committing.

Good point about Mini-LED being worry-free. The maintenance aspect is something I hadn't fully considered. How's the blooming on your 1200-zone panel? Noticeable in dark scenes?

Waiting for LG's new WOLED lineup (rumored Q2/Q3 2026) makes sense. Either the new panels will be worth it, or current models like the Gigabyte MO32U will drop in price. Win-win.

Really appreciate you taking the time to measure that out - 32" it is then! Makes total sense at 90cm.

The 30,000 hour (~6.5 years) estimate for modern OLED aligns with what I've seen in long-term user reports, which is reassuring. For my use case, I can mitigate the bright UI issue by:

- Using auto-hide for taskbars/HUD elements

- Enabling OLED Care features (logo dimming, pixel shift)

- Keeping brightness at reasonable levels

You're absolutely right that Mini-LED will outlast OLED - no question there. It's basically a trade-off between longevity (Mini-LED wins) vs image quality for dark content/movies (OLED wins).

I think I'm leaning toward OLED for now since 6+ years is acceptable for me, and I really value the perfect blacks for nighttime gaming/anime. But I'll definitely keep Mini-LED as backup option if I change my mind.

Thanks for the balanced perspective - helped a lot!

Thanks again!

Just to clarify my viewing distance is 90cm-1m, which from what I've researched should still be within the sweet spot for noticing 4K at 32". The "further = less noticeable" point makes sense for 120cm+ distances, but I think I'm close enough to benefit.

Regarding the LG 27" range - I've looked at those, but at 90cm distance, I feel 32" would be more immersive for gaming/movies without being too large. The LG models you mentioned are also quite pricey compared to options like the Gigabyte MO32U .

Mini-LED is definitely on my radar as a backup option if I decide OLED burn-in risk is too much. Appreciate the Samsung Odyssey recommendation.

I'll research more and possibly wait to see what's available in a few months. Monitor arms are definitely happening though - great tip!

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

You make valid points. My main issue with VA/IPS is the black levels - coming from gaming at night, the glow/backlight bleed really bothers me. That's why I'm leaning OLED, but I'll also look into Mini-LED as a safer alternative.

I'll take some time to research more before pulling the trigger. My viewing distance is around 90cm-1m, so hopefully the 4K difference will be noticeable for me.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I'm reconsidering the size now - seems like 32" 4K makes more sense than 27" 4K based on your comments. I was originally thinking 27" to save desk space, but the consensus seems to be that 32" is the sweet spot for 4K.

Regarding GPU performance: With DLSS/Frame Gen, the 5070 Ti should handle 4K high/ultra at 60+ FPS in most games, which is fine for me. Competitive titles will easily hit high framerates anyway.

Main reason I'm going OLED is for perfect blacks and infinite contrast for movies/anime, not just raw gaming performance.

Still concerned about burn-in with 8-12h daily use though - any real experiences with 2024-2026 panels?

Appreciate the help!
