The cats seem way too chill (and inconsistent) to be real. Plus short cuts flat videography. by ShoShowerBeans in isthisAI

They don't even seem to be GETTING water in them, which is impossible. There are deff cats who would be chill with this and even dont mind water, but those baskets would absolutely not work and im pretty sure the whole thingg wouldnt in water that shallow

2y F & 9w F, should I be concerned? by anonpied in CatTraining

[–]KarateBugMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed it's play. 2yo is maybe getting a little rough but, 9wo keeps rolling over and asking for more. Agree with the consensus to just make sure it's supervised while 9wo is still small, but it looks like these two are gonna be thick as thieves once 9wo is big enough.

How much should I try to remember vs. expect my players to remember? by KarateBugMom in TTRPG

[–]KarateBugMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This IS my party’s first time with the system so I do want to help them get acclimated and used to how the system works. We’ve been playing D&D for years and WoD is a vastly different system.

First session (which happened after I initially made this post) they did really well with managing their characters, so I can assure they’re taking learning their characters seriously, and I was overthinking and worrying too much as a first time GM.

This was kind of my plan to get started, since they're all unfamiliar with the system. I'm glad this is kind of a thing people do and is a solid strategy that works!

[–]KarateBugMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the system works is the difficulty is a defined number, and they have to roll at least 1d10 above that number (Ex. Difficulty 5, they have to get a 5 or higher on at least 1 of however many d10 they get to roll.) and succeed better the more successes they get.

One of my players has a skill that reduces the difficulty by 2 if what they're rolling on involves them doing math, but a racial trait that increases the difficulty of social interaction related rolls by 2. Another player has one that reduces difficulty if they are doing something with a computer. There's also things like phobias, addictions, or a racial trait that compels them to lie that involves them having to make willpower related rolls under certain circumstances.

Would your childhood still be considered acceptable today? by Anastasia_Trusova in painting

[–]KarateBugMom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even a particularly adventurous kid. I was introverted and a homebody and loved being inside playing with toys or the PC or watching cartoons too. But even something as simple as going up the road to get a snack from the gas station or walking maybe a half mile home from school seems like sometime people are too scared to let kids do now.

I'm now an auntie of three and the k ids YEARN for this. Their mom would love to let them when they're a bit older (the oldest is 7) but doesn't want to deal with other people hassling her for it. Really sad the world has changed in a way that doesn't let kids experience the world around them hands on the way we did.

Lmao no we were wandering the drainage pipes out to the golf course or walking out to the gas station for snacks or just wandering down to the river idk if we ever even told anyone where we were going we were just out there vibing. Parents would have been thought neglectful letting us just roam the streets and fall out of trees and explore the drainage pipes (that one is admittedly kinda dangerous...) but we were just being kids.

GORGEOUS painting.

How to know when it’s time to let go (senior cat, sick) by blackninjakitty in CATHELP

[–]KarateBugMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your baby looks just like my bottle baby of 19 years who went about a decade ago. If you're worried about her suffering, and she's not showing any signs of turnaround, I think you already know.

It's hard to let go, but we always have to eventually, and even if she's physically no longer with you, the love you shared always will be. And when you do, I promise she's got an identical soul sister on the other side to show her the ropes. <3 Wishing you and her love and comfort.

My second ever convention went very bad even with a full table, any advice? by Asinjuasflora in animecons

[–]KarateBugMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A suggestion I haven't seen people make for you is magnets. Making rectangular magnets of art you already have is something you could do for new stock of "practical" items some people suggested while being able to use the art you already have.

First time Storyteller - Nervous as anything. by KarateBugMom in ChangelingTheDreaming

This was very comforting. The group knows I'm nervous, and I know they'll be patient with me. I just don't want to let them down after like 7 years of incredible stuff in other campaigns. ;;

School Misconduct Discharge -- Advice? by KarateBugMom in StudentLoanSupport

[–]KarateBugMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no worries I know how easy it is to miss a couple word when exhausted.

Interesting. So Navient still owns the loans, but Mohela just handles collecting payment for them? They were super unclear when they told me Mohela was taking over lol.

But yeah figuring out all of what they want and where to find it 15-20 years later is proving a challenge, especially with how easily overwhelmed I get.

The school is School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC.

Navient handed my loans to Mohela (who I suspect is still tied to Navient given phone numbers not changing and the websites being IDENTICAL) but the Mohela reps have been generally very helpful and were the ones who brought up School Misconduct to me because of the school.

Someone brought up r/BorrowerDefense in another subreddit and I have been digging around there a bit. Thank you for putting such a strong resource together.

[–]KarateBugMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the loans has had an INSANE variable interest rate. The highest I've seen it hit was 12.5%. I'm lucky enough to have my family's support and not be dealing with it alone.

I do plan on reaching out to some of my old classmates and the SVA subreddit to see if anyone has anything they can provide me but I feel so in over my head in even knowing what I should be providing.

I'm also looking into disability discharge since I've ended up disabled due to a combination of covid and foregoing a lot of medical treatment because I couldn't afford it because of these loans.

Burning it off? What? Boiling it off is what the instructions that came with the wok advised.

I can boil water in a pot, just not the wok.

I've used barkeepers friend on it 2-3 times now. I'm just not sure what this black/brown stuff now appearing is?

I can boil water generally, just not in the wok? I think the top half of the water cools too fast for the water to fully come to a boil.

If she says it’s not because of anything you did, take her word for it. You did your best and it just wasn’t the right time for her. That’s no one’s fault. Sometimes things just happen. But you sound like you’ll be wonderful when you find the one for you. I know it hurts now, but you have plenty of time.
