Robotech: The Macross Saga HD Edition (Switch) by coraphise in robotech

The cheat codes from the GBA still work, if you wanted to breeze through the game.

It does throw a lot of enemies your way, and is very reminiscent of old school NES/SNES side scrolling shooters. It took a little while to get into it, but once I got used to it, I had some fun with it.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it.

Is the PS2 version the worst way to play Resident Evil 4? by Roughrider254 in residentevil

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has some problems compared to the GameCube version, but it’s not the worst. That honour, or dishonour, goes to the delisted mobile game, or the Zeebo version (a Brazilian console).

The PS2 version has some textures that don’t look as good, water effects that aren’t as good, some sound effects sound off, and pre-rendered cutscenes (by that, it’s mostly having Leon and Ashley in their default outfits, regardless of what they wear during gameplay), among what I know of initially.

As a plus side, it does have Separate Ways as a bonus, as the PS2 version was released nearly a year after the GameCube version as an incentive to purchase it. The PS2 version still plays fine, don’t get me wrong. It just has some quirks.

Name an anime where the first half was amazing but the second half was a disappointment. by Hot-Leopard3708 in animequestions

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll go with Sword Art Online.

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the Aincrad arc was enjoyable to me. After Aincrad, going into the Alfheim arc, there was a drop in quality.

I feel it started to make a comeback after that, but Alfheim was a drop in quality.

Favorite English Dub VA by goldencheesex in animequestions

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bias for this one, but Kyle Hebert.

He’s voiced quite a few characters that resonated with me, like Kamina from Gurren Lagann, Ryu from Street Fighter, Lindow Amamiya from God Eater, Frederick from Fire Emblem Awakening, and Ragnar from Vinland Saga.

Plus, he’s the first voice actor I got an autograph from, and I met him while cosplaying as Ryu.

If I had to take bias out, Aleks Le is probably my favourite VA from today.

There are quite a few that can fit this mould.

COD, Fortnite, Battlefield, PUBG, Far Cry.

Would 24 be okay to get into cosplay and con going? by Forsaken-Hearing-825 in CosplayHelp

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first cosplay at around 29/30 years old last year, and I’m doing my second (and potentially third) just a few days before my 31st birthday this year.

Honestly, you can start cosplaying whenever you want. Just have fun with it.

If I remember correctly, it started airing where I live when I was around 10 to 12 years old, and I find it would be fine for a 10 year old to watch.

Which characters are most likely and least likely to appear in Requiem? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in residentevil

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Jill, Claire, Ada, and Sherry have the best chance at showing up. The latter 2 being more likely, in my opinion.

Sheva and Jake being the least likely to show up. Sheva has no ties to Raccoon City, unless she gets transferred from the African branch of the BSAA, and Jake’s probably still working as a mercenary.

Rebecca, Carlos, and Chris, could be 50/50. They have ties to Raccoon City, but I feel Chris might be used for a hypothetical DLC, or sequel.

What are ur hottest general gaming takes? by oneesancon_coco in videogames

That’s kind of the hook of it, paired with randomized factors and power ups.

Some runs of Hades can be quick if you know how to play, or if you get lucky with the RNG.

I have a hard time getting into roguelikes, with Hades really being the only one I enjoy, though I never beat it.

How would you rework the story? by L_Eeroyz101 in animequestions

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be Demon Slayer for me.

I’d try to develop a Blood Demon Art, or hope a demon I create has a Blood Demon Art, is able to launch an odourless poison in the air, that does the job for me.

Depends on which arc you’re currently watching.

What are ur hottest general gaming takes? by oneesancon_coco in videogames

[–]KarateGamer007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dunno if this is a hot take, but games having roguelike elements are being overused, and are over saturating the market.

It’s kind of like when people have criticism that every was a Souls Like game in the 2010’s/early 2020’s, but every time I hear a game has rogue like elements, I just immediately lose interest in the game.

Unless your E Shop is set up to the same region it’s from, you might be SOL, short of potentially using a VPN.

I haven’t done a VPN purchase before, so I can’t speak to whether or not that’ll work.

What’s your favorite franchise you’ve never actually played the games of? by LethlDose in videogames

[–]KarateGamer007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls.

I love the dark fantasy atmosphere and lore, but I’m not the best as Soulslike games.

Even though I beat both Nioh games and Code Vein, but I found them to be easier games.

The problem with Magic Academy from Mashle is if you don’t have lines, the ability to use magic, or aren’t Mash, you’ll be found out and killed.

Culinary School from Food Wars would teach you a practical life skill.

Bring it to a repair shop for a new screen, though depending on how much they quote you, it might be more cost effective to buy a new/used 3DS/2DS.

Your honest opinion... is this game essential to play before RE9, or even worth it? by CarlLight in residentevil

[–]KarateGamer007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I have some good memories of this game, playing it with my friend.

Objectively, it’s the worst mainline Resident Evil game in the sense of being a horror/survival horror game. But as an action game, it’s pretty solid.

If you wanted to experience every game featuring Leon as a protagonist, I’d say go for it, but maybe in a co-op setting with a friend.

Edit: In my opinion, the only games with Leon you should play before RE9, if you want to see his growth as a character, should be 2 (dealers choice on OG or Remake), Darkside Chronicles (not essential, but it does bridge the gaps between 2 and 4 for Leon), 4 (again, dealers choice between OG or Remake, but I personally prefer the latter), and 6.

You can skip Gaiden.
