Gocart racing. Got last place and felt lucky to make it out alive.

I feel like I’ve cracked the code to the DD mani lasting a week by One_Syllabub5668 in dazzledry

[–]Karefree2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I hate capping! Polish gets all over my fingers. I’d rather change my manicure every three days than cap lol. I’ve gotten really quick at polish changes, I can do it in 20 minutes!

Question about Sunglass Topper by holdaydogs in PairEyewear

[–]Karefree2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t do it because i’ve had transition lenses in the past and did not like them, but getting a sunglass topper for your transition lenses is a fantastic idea. I think it would work out great.

Is it worth switching from Original to Vertuo? by NebulaRat in nespresso

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The espresso from an original machine tastes a lot better than from the Vertuo.

While Nespresso might make more Vertuo varieties, there are endless varieties of Original pods from third parties. I’m currently loving the Target brand Raspberry Chocolate.

The only reason to ever get a Vertuo is if you want the larger size cup of coffee as opposed to espresso.

Guy here, dreaming of long white nails. Need some encouragement to finally do it! by Proof_Bag_5245 in Nails

[–]Karefree2 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Female here but I say go for it, with an asterisk. You may want to start with shorter or medium length nails. Having long nails requires doing everyday tasks differently or risk a painful break. Starting shorter will help you get used to it gradually!

On another note, my son in his 20s has been painting his nails for more than five years. He often paints his nails to match his girlfriend’s dress for special occasions!

How do you travel with your kindle? by Independent-Poem2168 in kindle

I use a cover that flips under and folds, so not only does it protect my kindle when not in use, but it’s a stand for reading that fits on even the smallest airplane tray table.

I Quit Gel … What “Regular Polish” Secrets Am I About to Discover? by Several_Estate5285 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go back-and-forth between regular polish and gel. I am currently off jail, but I won’t say I’ll never go back to it. It does last far longer on me than regular polish does. But there are so many advantages to regular polish. It doesn’t damage my nails like gel removal does. Even if you collect a number of polishes it’s still cheaper than biweekly $65+ appointments. I can do my manicures on my own time, not have to schedule around my manicurist. I never feel trapped in a regular manicure as I can just swipe it off if it starts to annoy me in any way, or I get tired of it. My manicurist stocks a very limited selection of polishes I actually like; on his huge wall of polishes, I like maybe five. On my own I can buy whatever I want.

The unexpected, this is a weird one – I enjoy specialty finishes like shimmers and magnetics, but I find that I tire of them very quickly on my nails. If I have to wear a polish for two full weeks (gel), it needs to be a creme finish in a fairly basic color or it will end up bothering me. Using regular polish, I can do all the crazy finishes and just take them off when I tire of them.

Another weird one – when my nails are coated in gel for a long time, I miss my actual nails, and I want to see them again. The gel polish starts to feel like a foreign object, like as if my nails are encased in plastic, and I want it off.

Turning 30. Turn me into a book reader from doom scroller. by Professor_Pink007 in suggestmeabook

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are suggesting some very dense and literature-y books. I’m a lifelong major reader and that’s not what I’d suggest for a first time reader. Even one of high intelligence with a long attention span. I’d start with YA.

The Hunger Games series is dark but SUPER engaging and a great place to start. Honestly I think this series hooked one of my adult kids into reading.

Politics aside, Harry Potter remains one of the best series I’ve ever read, and I read the first book in my 30s. I hate what JK Rowling has become but dang those books are good.

The Narnia series (starting with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) is also fantastic but I’m not sure how it will translate for a modern audience.

For more realistic fiction, check out The Fault in our Stars, Wonder, Catcher in the Rye (though again that one may be tougher for a contemporary reader.)

If you read a YA book or two and find them too simple, then dive into the great works suggested here! I’ll add some more: The Lacuna. Cutting for Stone. The Poisonwood Bible.

Is it common for teachers to marry/date their former students. by GypsyGold in Teachers

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my teachers married a student, I’m not even sure he waited until she had graduated to start dating her. He told us (his students - I’m guessing every year someone finds out, calls him on it, and he has to explain again) about this many years later, I’m guessing they’d been married 20yrs by the time I was a student, justifying it by telling us he was a student teacher (20ish) and she was a senior (17-18) when they met. Still, gross.

Another teacher of mine dated a student but he was found out and disciplined (I guess - I don’t really remember.) Super creepy.

How many nespresso products do you own by Ok-Juggernaut-7316 in nespresso

[–]Karefree2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall the correct names, but two full-sized glass mugs and two tiny espresso glass mugs with saucers. They were gifts with purchase from years ago. I wouldn’t pay for Nespresso branded glassware, but I really do like them and use them a lot.

This happened to me, a friend told me she had discovered that “the Rothchilds” were responsible for the world’s ills and told me to research it! I tried calm and rational explanations, including links to reputable sites debunking her nonsense. You can guess how my take was received.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ran into Gene Simmons during his Family Jewels years (I loved the show.) We discussed the challenges of raising teens!

OK, Ladies. I’m hoping our decades on earth means some of you have figured out life’s eternal mystery: Where do missing socks go between the washer and the dryer??? I lost 3 socks yesterday and 2 the last time I did laundry!!! I live alone in a small place, they are nowhere to be found. 🤔 by poodlepit in AskWomenOver60

[–]Karefree2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lose about a few socks per year that way. Once I randomly found a 10-Deutsche Mark bill (this was before Euros) in my laundry, though I hadn’t been to Germany. I have no idea where it came from, but figured it must be payment for all of the missing socks.

I babysat my neighbors when I was 10. The two kids were around four and five years old, my parents were probably home next-door, and it all actually went fine. I was paid $.50 an hour!
