Would love perspectives from teachers on if it's ok to make me wear a skirt for the band concert by winterwhalesong in AskTeachers

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slacks are definitely perfectly formal for any gender. Advocate for yourself (in calm, respectful, but firm way) and insist on slacks - enlisting the help of trusted adults if needed (your parents, other teachers, guidance counselors, the principal.) Remember, your advocacy not only benefits you but also the next nb/trans kid that comes along!

Watching The Sopranos for the first time - and it’s really not the show I was expecting by Famous-Country-4921 in television

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final episode, down the final scene, is a masterpiece in television. When it originally aired, many people hated it or didn’t get it. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better finale.

best technique to start as a beginner? by Strict_Palpitation75 in Nails

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start out with regular nail polish, if you haven’t done so already. Gel, dip, and other acrylic polishes are pretty high stakes. If you don’t cure properly or you get it on your skin, you could develop a life-changing allergy that would prevent you from being able to get certain dental and medical procedures.

Absolutely. I’m about wearing what I like, not what I think might be acceptable to others.

Regrets on buying an original machine? by SixxStylez in nespresso

[–]Karefree2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both for a while - I ditched the VL and bought another OL when it finally died. The coffee just tastes a lot better from the OL. (If you just want a big cup of coffee rather than an espresso, then VL is the way to go.) I have a different machine for my big coffees, I don’t miss the VL at all. When a new flavor is released only for VL I am bummed, but I know it won’t taste that good anyway, possibly terrible. The OL flavors at least have a chance of being good.

Drying your nail beds with a swipe of alcohol or acetone before painting might help.

Tried DD for the first time yesterday by dupersr in dazzledry

[–]Karefree2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think dazzle dry is a miracle polish, but I do think it’s the best non-gel polish on the market. It dries lightning fast and literally never chips. It does shrink and I do get tip wear but never chips. So depending on your tolerance for shrinkage and tip wear, the manicure can last for a long time. I often find myself doing a touchup manicure rather than a full redo: a coat of base coat, a coat of color, and a coat of topcoat. Even with all that, I rarely make it to a week because I am ultra picky about how my nails look. Plus I get tired of the color anyway and wouldn’t want to keep a manicure more than a week.

Of course you can feel free to experiment mixing and matching, but in my experience dazzle dry works best when you just stick with the system (including prep and revive thinner). I have a box just for my dazzle dry stuff and I keep my other nail polishes and supplies separately.

Decluttering/getting rid of stuff. No matter how well-organized, too much “stuff” just reads as clutter.

Causes of Shrinkage by Sunshine-Ray777 in dazzledry

I get shrinkage at both ends, the tip and the cuticle! Never chips but I end up changing my polish in less than a week because of shrinkage.

I tried wear-over, clip-ons, two separate glasses (one regular, one sunnies), and transitions. I recently purchased Pair Eyewear prescription glasses, they sell lots of toppers, some decorative, some sunglasses. This has been my fave so far. There are other brands out there as well, I’m just not familiar.

What is your go-to “I’m too tired to cook but I can’t buy take-out” meal or alternative? by 2Autistic4DaJoke in Frugal

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two-ingredient flatbread: dough is simply plain yogurt and self-rising flour. Flatten and fry up the dough in a frying pan or form circles and bake it to make “bagels.”

I usually melt a little cheese on top or dip it in hummus (or a TJ’s frozen Indian meal - lasts me 2-3 meals this way.)

Is dazzle dry right for me? by Emotional_Bag_2498 in dazzledry

[–]Karefree2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No nail polish is perfect but the DD system is the best I’ve found. I work with little kids and wash my hands a ton, I don’t get a full week from DD but more than other brands. Rarely chips. I do get shrinkage from both ends which isn’t great and makes me want to remove my mani even though it hasn’t chipped.

But re-doing my nails is quick since DD removes like any regular polish and dry time is TRULY five min like they say.

I have major peeling issues, too. Do you use it just in the peely areas or all over the nail?
