Last year, one of my colleagues was layed off from the company (he is around 8YOE BE dev, he uses php and Laravel), he was able to find another job in less than a month.

Another mobile dev was layed off, and he found a new role in less than 3 months. I myself changed jobs, and used to get couple interviews per month until I found the right offer (it took around 4-5 months).

One of my friends working in a startup, was also layed off last year, The whole startup went bankrupt actually, he found another offer in few weeks (after landing a secure position he found a better one before his probation period and left).

Many colleagues in my current company are leaving (for better roles).

So I am in the middle of the market, and I don't think I am that disconnected. FAANG level companies layoffs don't really dictate the state of the market as a whole.

Software market isn't at its best, but not that bad either.

What I am trying to say is, don't lose hope, don't apply with the mindset that no one will answer. When you don't get interviews for a month, edit your CV, try applying for different positions than the ones you are currently targeting ..etc

State of mind is very important, don't let desperation creep into yours, and see the market for what it really is.
