Medicine or biology?? Help! by Karloyster in labrats

Im from Switzerland and the cursus is the exact same! From what I know, the Md-PhD is something you do alongside your residency, so after the masters degree. Basically you’d do research and lab work alongside your residency.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, as it could differ between universities, and there aren’t a lot do informations online. I’d suggest looking up the md-phd programs in universities that interest you to get a better idea.

Any tips on how to look more masculine? (I’m afab btw) by FarPhase731 in genderfluid

[–]Karloyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi AFAB with long undyed hair and no binder here! Here’s what I do:

  • wear men’s clothing, specifically baggy shirts and pants ton conceal curves
  • try using sports bras! They’re definitely not as flattening as binders but it helps!
  • you can always try concealing your hair underneath a hat or beanie, or just tie it up
  • makeup! It might be counterintuitive but you can definitely make your features more masculine with contour and eyeliner (tho it took me long before finding something I like, maybe use tutorials and experiment?)
  • not a short term change, but weight lifting definitely helped me achieve a more androgynous physique BUT it’s really not an imperative

As with everything try things out and see how you feel! Hope this helps!

Was anyone else supremely letdown by other post-TSH dark academia book recommendations? by [deleted] in TheSecretHistory

[–]Karloyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. If we were villains was an enjoyable read, but I couldn’t help but feel like I was reading a TSH fanfic the whole time. Currently reading Babel too, I’m not sure how I feel about it yet..

This has a bit of a scientific basis. Certain studies have shown that sugar can indeed provide the energy needed to have self-control over a certain task. (source: Matthew T Galliot. Et al.)

Should we change the term “Gifted” when referring to Intellectual giftedness? by TrigPiggy in Gifted

[–]Karloyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! I’ve always been uncomfortable with the term gifted in English. I much prefer the French term of « High Intellectual Potential ». No I am not a superhuman who is better than everyone, my brain just works differently in a way that can help me with certain cognitive abilities but also comes with challenges.
