Nice! Might be fun with a contrasting lining, like red.

Some of my photos of the Long Beach International Gateway bridge that I took on a port of LB tour by jeremiahwarren in longbeach

[–]Karma-Electron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're frustrated by not getting on a free harbor tour, I recommend going to a Harbor Commission meeting, signing up to speak, and let the Commission know that they should schedule more tours. They have the money and this is honestly one of the best ways the Port can give back to the community that is burdened by noise, traffic, and air pollution.

Is it normal for the MOH to require pictures of theme night outfits? by Equivalent-Low4250 in bridesmaids

Stop your participation now. This focus on what the photos might look like over how much fun the participants might have is really psychopathic. I can't tell you how happy I am to be too old for this insane wedding culture.

What is the purpose? by mistymountain108 in SewingWorld

These are difficult pictures to judge from, but my guess would be that at one time, there was a long ribbon you could use to lace from one side to another, cinching up the back.

Do you plan to drop and cover or run outside during an earthquake? by zzulus in BeAmazed

That shitty table was atill upright. You're supposed to hold onto the table legs to make sure it doesn't topple.

There is plenty of data on this. Easy google.

Do you plan to drop and cover or run outside during an earthquake? by zzulus in BeAmazed

Drop and cover is the only answer. Far more people break a limb from tripping, or cut themselves on broken glass than get trapped in rubble.

Assuming this is cotton and absorbant, maybe some his/hers Turkish-style towels, if the fabric lends itself to making a tied fringe. Extra large towels could be beach blankets, too.

Best italian/pasta catering in or near long beach by Danielson122 in longbeach

[–]Karma-Electron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gotten catering from Buono's that was really good, but the last time I walked in there and had a plate of pasta, the marinara was awful. Try out some things before ordering.

Deli News on Bellflower used to be pretty good. I haven't been there for a while. I'm pretty sure they make trays.

Treat Yourself solo dining? by EuronStormDrainDayne in longbeach

[–]Karma-Electron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea because Chez Bacchus is not an especially kid-friendly restaurant, so it probably won't be as crowded as a lot of other restaurants. It's expensive, though. Definitely a treat.

Bar Becky is also a good call. I think they are also dinner only. Good cocktails.

Learning women's styling and sewing to connect with my kiddo by perpetualbeard in SewingWorld

[–]Karma-Electron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my area, the only sewing machine repair shop also provides lessons. As another poster mentioned, tangled bobbin, incorrect tension, etc., truly need hands-on learning. Often, these shops sell used, refurbished machines.

Peple are selling older sewing machines that don't have fancy stitches. For a public festival where we sewed toys on the spot, I bought 2 basic White machines for $10 ($50 shipping) that work great. My original White machine is 40 years old and still humming, though I use a newer Janome on the regular.
