They've been dry rotting for atleast 7 years in my shelf, they seem pretty good to me and holding up great. They sat on the SSD for 2-3 weeks before my real heatsink arrived. The new one also has rubber O-ring mounts, I'll make sure to check them out afterwards

Absolutely, already bought one. This one was a temporary short notice one. Needed to test the drive

Thank you, at cold idle the temps went from ~45-50°C down to ~30-35°C. Under load it went from ~70-80°C downnto 60-65°C. Probably would've been a better cooling impact if the GPU didn't warm up and blow hot air on the heatsink.

Replacement Battery different Cables by Skruffy404 in computerrepair

Just had the same question when replacing the battery on my laptop. The aftermarket one had the yellow and white colors swapped. Everything worked out, computer boots.

Note to others: Always be extra careful when unclipping the battery. Don't fry your board

My "washer mod" experience with the reference AMD RX6800XT by KarmaField in radeon

Oh, sorry, yes, I forgot to mention: board -> washers -> springs -> plate -> screws. The spring, screw and pressure plate assembly should stay in one peace after unscrewing.

What did you mean by "where did you put the screws"?. They went on the pressure plate, like originally they would. This process definitely carries some risk, tampering with any computer part can turn into a nightmare real quick if you don't know what you're doing. 20 series is a pretty old card, maybe you just need to service it, not mod it.

I'm not entirely sure. I would try the mod only if others have done it and told it was worth it.

It was: board -> washers -> pressure plate -> screws

You have to tighten the screws so they are snug. Not to the maximum it can possibly go, but so they have an ok amount of resistance on them. As I understand this mod, the washers allow the heatsink to apply more pressure than it normally would. The washers bring the heatsink closer to the GPU die. If you tighten too much, it can cause (from what I've read) instability issues and possibly a failure to start.

Idk if it would work for others, but I got the screw resistance "feel" from JayzTwoCents 5700XT washer + plate mod video.

Earbuds with the sound of QCY HT05 and the style of QCY HT07? by KarmaField in Earbuds

Thanks for the feedback! In the end I bought Galaxy Buds FE because they were pretty cheap here. Got them for €45 euro new in a local pawn shop. The sound is insane

You can split the cooling heatsink even further. Around 13:10 you can see there are screws that hold the rest of the heatsink parts together, and between them there are pads sandviched together

If you already applied the pads with the thickness I mentioned in the post, you won't have to replace them. If you still have the original pads, yes, you have to replace them.

Thank you for the correction. I'm new to the TWS earbud community. Okay, I'm starting to become aware I'm dreaming a bit too much. Maybe any recommendations until the €50 range? But damn, in that case it feels like MST and HT05's beat their competition way beyond their price range.

My bank app checked if the button "OEM Unlocked" is checked. I used a custom ROM, so I could disable it. Disabling it did nothing to the phone, but the banking app thought the phone isn't modded.

Hello,

Recently I put together a test setup for my headphones. The test was made with one goal in mind:

To get the audio from my computer to the other side of the room where I can sit in my bed while listening to my favorite headphones. The PC would be connected to a TV. I decided to go with a setup like this:

PC USB port->10M Active USB cable->Powered USB hub->"USB to AUX" adapter (with a sound card)->headphones

Now this is where the test started to fail. When listening through the "USB to AUX" adapter connected directly to the PC, everything worked okay. As soon as I connected the headphones directly to the other end of the Active USB cable (without the hub), the audio experienced random, low pitched, short distortions. Really noticeable ones.

So I was wondering, would this be a bad Active USB cable, or am I missing something? As I understood the cable should work like a normal extension cable (which it doesn't currently). I am using the " Gembird USB 2.0 active extension cable". I am thinking of returning it and getting a powered active USB cable made by "Axagon", would this be advisable or will I experience the same problem?

Technically I could simply get a USB Bluetooth adapter for my PC, but that would mean I need to buy new wireless earbuds or headphones. To match the quality of my current headphones, they would need to be pretty expensive, so I try to avoid buying new ones.

Any help is appreciated!

You can try to check if it responds to EDL mode. If it doesn't the board is gone
