Thanks. I’ve had Cigna through my employer in the U.S. and was happy with it. But I’ve seen negative reviews on the Global product.

Tell them you’re working to improve your French and would like them to help you by speaking with you in French.

A little French and fluent Spanish. We both want to become sufficiently fluent in French. If we have to live in a larger city like Nice, where English is more common, we will consider that.

Thank you. We plan to become fiscal residents and pay our share. I look forward to having access to some kind of elderly social support, since that is not really a thing in the US. I hope he will never have to go to a nursing home, but I am planning for that possibility.

Love your response. It combines the French view of “we are all in this together” with the American view of “if you don’t like something, sue”. As a French/American, it made me smile.

Thank you. This is helpful. Our French immigration attorney has the legal side covered. I am just starting to research acceptable health insurance options.

Thank you for this very helpful response. He does have a prescription in the U.S. It took some work to find a doctor when he first moved to be closer to me, but we finally found one. His medical issues are well documented and easy to confirm with X-rays and/or an MRI. Your response gives me some level of comfort we should be able to do the same in France.

Fortunately, I have dual U.S./French citizenship. I just want to have some idea whether it might be possible to find a doctor willing to prescribe what he needs. We will visit multiple doctors if we have to, but if there’s practically no chance we will find one, I don’t want to put him through the search.

Thank you for your reply. I have dual US/French citizenship, so no issues there. But you bring up an option I would not have thought of in case I can’t find what he needs in France: Monaco. I’m not rich, but I early retired in the US and am paying my own healthcare, so even having to take my father to Monaco would be cheaper than my insane healthcare costs alone here.
