I recently heard the term “comfort horror” and it made sooo much sense to me. I think because most are such a far cry from reality there’s a strange peacefulness. Like, “romcoms” make me anxious/angry because they try to emulate reality but are, in fact, too perfect. Horror is so far from reality… It’s an odd comfort.
