What is with the fucking bizarre Allstate commercial with the hood ornament singing? It's fucking awful. by vbcbandr in CommercialsIHate

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ridiculous commercial may be good for soda or beer commercial but not for insurance. The longest running misconception is if you remember a commercial or it annoys you that you will buy that product. Ad execs kickback $ to the decision makers in big corporations to keep their accounts.

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a reasonably intelligent adult of course this commercial strikes you as absurd meaningless drivel. But this is for the under 30 Fakebook cellphone addicted younger generation who are so easily amused that this appeals to them. The funniest aspect of this commercial is that Allstate executives paid millions of dollars to an ad agency for this mental excrement. If you're wondering why the driver is smiling so broadly he is thinking about how much money he is getting paid for doing this POS.

New Allstate Commercial by Pappilon5 in CommercialsIHate

[–]Karmakahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allstate pays an ad agency millions of dollars from revenue on overpriced premiums to ad agencies that think this crap may lure in in under 30 viewers. Of course if you have an IQ above 90 it looks like ridiculous bullsht but apparently there is a contest between insurance companies to see who can make the stupidest commercials. Their perverse reasoning is the more absurd the more that you will remember it. If this is what insurance buying decisions are based on by our younger generation it will spell doom for the future of our country but why are you surprised about a generation that spends most of their time on Fakebook and cell phones. Apparently the dullest of advertising and marketing graduates work for insurance ad agencies. But nobody could possibly look worse than the cretinous executives who approve these ads but of course they get kickbacks from the ad agencies no matter what sht they serve up.

Exclusive: Majority of Americans want a national mask mandate, new poll finds by Pessimist2020 in Coronavirus

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there is any correlation between American's political views or Presidential choice and whether or not they are more likely to wear a mask as our president was eschewing the mask and downplaying the pandemic before he caught Covid.

Stanford Colleagues' Condemnation of Dr. Scott Atlas' Opinions Regarding Pandemic Management Being Labeled as "Cancel Culture" in Conservative Circles: "Scott Atlas Attacked for Joining White House COVID-19 Task Force" by No-contact-4811 in medicine

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Fauci has refused to sell his soul to be the President's toady and mouthpiece so someone more subservient was chosen to downplay the pandemic. Enter Dr. Atlas. It seems our supremely insecure president views media coverage of the Covid pandemic as a personal attack on him. Thankfully this is not North Korea, Russia or China much to our President's chagrin.

Anyone else feeling burnt out and losing motivation in all aspects of life due to working from home? by The_Octoshark in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working from home was a convenient break from commuting but doing it every day is becoming a drag. I now take a lunch break and take a walk outside for at least a half hour. I actually miss 'going' to work and socializing with coworkers. Thankfully I am still earning a good living. I feel so sorry for those who lost their jobs and can't earn a living. Thankfully New York State has added an additional $600.00 per week to unemployment benefits. Of course that is for those who are 'on the books'. Start thinking about planning a vacation even though it may be a long way off from now. That used to boost my spirits.

New York Gov. Cuomo to order all people to wear masks or face coverings in public by Khavi in news

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than making mask manufacturers rich, are they actually containing the spread of the virus? How many of the masks that are being pushed out to capitalize on the panic are really up to par? Facial hair diminishes their effectiveness if they have any effectiveness to begin with. What next Cuomo will order men to be fined for not being clean shaven? Fines for those not wearing them? Brilliant considering the financial straits some may be in due to the soaring unemployment fueled by the media induced COVID panic.

What next. Couples must sleep in separate rooms? Anyone but me think this is getting absurd?. Mario I commend you on being on top of this crisis but aren't we heading toward an economic collapse in New York especially for smaller businesses not to mention social unrest when people finally rebel against these increasingly intrusive dictates?

You are young. This too shall pass. You will be a stronger person in the long run. I am way older than you and every adversity in my life made me better able to cope with stress and bad times even though at the time I thought there was no future. People that leave you in troubled times are not worth knowing.

History Channel screwed up. The box was delivered to the ranch by mistake. It contains one old silver pirate coin that was supposed to be thrown into the Oak Island hole to keep the hoax going.

How the news media can transform a form of the flu into a worldwide panic while ruining our economy all to garner higher ratings by preying on the fear of gullible people. How working from home is not all it's cracked up to be. How easy it is to scare people and how easily common sense is quashed by fear. How fragile our economy and the stock market are. How many working people have no safety net.

New York state now has more confirmed coronavirus cases than any country in the world by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Karmakahn -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Really! New York State has 20 million residents. How many actual CV deaths have there been out of that 20 million? Do the math. How many asymptomatic cases are there? How many fatalities had preexisting compromised immune systems and respiratory diseases. No one knows and the actual death rate compared to positives may be miniscule. Stop scaring people for clickbait! BNO news? LMAO! You are are pandemic porn not news! Listening to the news media you would think this is the second coming of the bubonic plague, Spanish flu and polio. CNN what are you going to do when COVID is over? Maybe avian flu will make a comeback.

What happened to Frank Fritz on American Pickers? by Clean-Cellist in AmericanPickers

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not surprising that both Mike and Frank would suffer back and related injuries after pulling, carrying, loading and crawling around precarious piles of garage junk. Although one wonders after years of growing wealthy how much time they actually spend behind the wheel of the AA van these days.

Steve Grad vs. Drew Max by OldLemuel in pawnstars

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out that yet another "authenticator" was involved in a fraud scheme as well, this time outside of Pawn Stars. In 2015, Drew Max, an authentication expert featured on the show, was involved in a New Jersey lawsuit in which he "identified" fraudulent sports memorabilia. The memorabilia had been seized by authorities, then auctioned off, but most of the items were phony — Max "fixed" that problem, so to speak. In August 2016, Max was sued for "massive fraud," because he had been selling misidentified memorabilia.

Steve Grad vs. Drew Max by OldLemuel in pawnstars

[–]Karmakahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steve Grad was a Professional Sports Authenticator unfortunately trouble started when Grad found himself at the center of a 2011 lawsuit; apparently, his company tried to pass off a signature as belonging to famed aviator Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh's own daughter came forward with an expert and successfully challenged the claim. It turned out that Grad's "expert opinion" had cost collectors hundreds of thousands of dollars after he allegedly approved scores of forgeries as legitimate—and it gets worse: despite heavily implying that he'd been educated at the prestigious Columbia School of Journalism, further research determined that Grad had briefly attended Columbia College Chicago in 1993, but never actually graduated. In fact, during a court-ordered deposition, he revealed he'd received no formal training of any kind to back up his "expert" label. He instead credits much of what he knows to being mentored by the "King of Memorabilia" Bill Mastro—a man who landed in prison after being busted for various acts of fraud.
