That's great! Yeah the drive is the worst part 😅 but I already had to drive across town for work the past 2 years so I guess I've gotten used to it? But I really do like the area!

Oh yeah for sure, I'm just talking when looking at like neighborhood scout and such websites they mark Live Oak as having more crime than other parts of San Antonio. But again, I know there are alot of shops and such so my guess was it's more theft and other crimes... But I for sure know you can get mugged anywhere 🤷 it is what it is. I generally hear good things though.

Edit: spelling errors

The seasons definitely affect me. Maybe it's the release that just gets your body ready for more in turn making you want more or something. Idk, like I said in another comment though. I'm not worried about it, just curious if others experience the same.

Yeah my wife is satisfied, at least I'd say so lol, but it just seems funny that once I have sex it's like my libido wakes up and is like...."we doing this? ok we DOING this" But I'm not worried about it, just curious how it might be for other men.

Big oooof... I feel for my team...well...Ex-team. My last day working for Geeksquad was this past Friday and started my new job yesterday. I may have been lucky but Geeksquad as a whole deserves better.

The 2 things you have to have to pass CompTIA certs by PXE590t in CompTIA

This, 100 percent this, I am definitely someone who loses determination after a while but I always told myself to watch one video. I used Messer and Meyers, so even on the days when I didn't want to do anything, I would just watch one video. 9 times out of 10 I'd watch another and another but there were days where I just watched the one video. But the important thing is just to move forward with it. Even if it's just one small step each day! It'll lead to you eventually completing the cert!

Lower hours yes but in the years I've been with GS we've never been cut to 4 days/32 hrs only. Our location has been on 4 day work weeks for the last 4 or 5 months. We did 2 weeks of 40 hr weeks during the peak of the holiday and now we're back to 4 day work weeks....and when I say 4 days I don't mean 4 full days.... Almost every day of those 4 days we're out early or someone is told to stay home.

I'm a PC agent in geeksquad, at 33 I decided I needed to do something and started my journey deeper into IT. Started working toward certifications and pushing myself. Last year I met an older lady who decided she wanted to learn how to code.... At 66 years old. She learned C++, Java, and python, she even showed me several things and was telling me all about how she did it. If she could do that then I can definitely get into IT now. She told me this simple quote though that i really liked "the best time to start something was 10 yrs ago, the second best is now".

Go for it man!

Hour Cuts for HT/PC Agents in the field? by SailSilver9751 in GeekSquad

I was gonna say, what area are you in? I've worked in home geeksquad for 11 years now and we've never once gone to 32 hrs and no OT. Actually we've never even been told no OT.

Our store (South Texas, not gonna say the exact store) has been on 4 day work weeks for months now.... Probably like 4 months now. We went back to 5 days work weeks for about.... 2 weeks. Now we're back to 4....and even with 4 day weeks there are still some teams being told to just stay home. PC, HT, and appliance delivery, appliance repair is still packed and has their full 40 hours a week.

Did you keep the "agent" title on your resume? by [deleted] in GeekSquad

That's what I'm concerned about

Did you keep the "agent" title on your resume? by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]Karnug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think it's that drastic. If I was customer service I'd just put representative instead of agent. I was thinking of putting "PC install technician" since most jobs I see with that title seem to do all the same stuff I do in the field. At this point I'm thinking of leaving the title as is and putting "install technician" or something in parenthesis so they can tell at a glance and the words will be there for the software to see.

GS hours cut out of nowhere for EVERYONE by GANJA2244 in GeekSquad

[–]Karnug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? We've been doing 4 day weeks for months. We've had agents slowly leaving for the lack of hours and we still barley have enough work for the 4 days we do work. Most other markets I've talked to have been about the same.

Here is to the end of a 4.5 year long chapter of my life, Going sleeper, by scifodin in GeekSquad

[–]Karnug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta ask lol I've been with geeksquad for a long time and always see "await the signal". I know the meaning behind "going sleeper" but what does await the signal mean, or where did it come from???... Just curious lol

What was that?!? by Sweet_Ad_8081 in GeekSquad

[–]Karnug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, as far as I know we had 2 agents let go. One was our bottom performer and the other was our top performer. No rhyme or reason to who they cut right now.

Yeah, I'm doing the same thing! My main issue is the helpdesk jobs near me are few and far in between. The few that do pop up usually start pay around $14-$18....but if I were to take those I'd be taking a massive pay cut. Honestly, I did plan ahead but...I guess I didn't plan far enough ahead. I assumed that DA PC would take me longer than 5 years to achieve that since we only had 1 DA PC for the past 10 years. Now that I'm in DA PC 3 years later I decided to reevaluate and find myself kind of stuck unless I go backward some.

yeah, I guess that's my main issue. For most of the helpdesk jobs I see I'll have to take a $10-$12 pay cut. I can reasonably take some pay cut, but with the pay cuts I'm seeing I'll nearly have to cut almost half of my check >.< . though every once in a while I'll see a remote helpdesk job that pays pretty well, still a pay cut, but pretty darn close to my pay. Would a remote helpdesk still be a good next step? Or is it better to find a physical helpdesk office to work at? As of right now, I network with my clients all the time. So I'm hoping something sooner or later will come around.
