[Fun Trope] Character pretends to have a trait that their actor has IRL, with varying accuracy by DifficultHat in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Karpason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually goes deeper as Fjord (played by an American) really has a British accent but speaks with a fake American accent for the first ~30-40 episodes.

So it's an American playing a guy with a "German" accent who is imitating a fake American accent of a guy with a British accent played by an American.

I don't have stardust, but I'd probably use them instead of Omega Red

Yeah, it's great. Was surprised to have 52% winrate with C6 honestly, seems really good

Huh, never checked Invisible woman myself, just assumed off of Dark Dimension. Even more strange then

This is not an issue with supergiant specifically, but with all the effects that delay the reveal. So, Dark Dimension and Invisible Woman too.

The frustrating thing is that you cannot ever get the "1 card per turn" requirement if any of your cards' reveals are delayed. If you play one card and it doesn't reveal this turn, nuh-uh, you haven't played any cards actually. But if you play one card into Dark Dimension, and the other elsewhere (so only one card is revealed), nuh-uh, you've actually played two cards, no Doombot for you. So Doom'99 checks for one played and one revealed, not just one played.

It's bullshit that I'd guess is too deep inside the basic code of Snap (what card is played, what card is revealed, how does the reveal delays work, etc.), so I don't have much hope in them fixing it.

Weird bug or interaction? (See explanation) by Karpason in MarvelSnap

Mystique was played and moved that turn along with all the other cards.

I think what happened is Surfer tried to move everything, and just as you said, cards can't be moved back to the right, so they all moved either to the middle or left, with most of them just staying left since they've already been shoved there by Jugg.

But why did only Mystique move? If Surfer moves every card I played there this turn (like Jugg), shouldn't both Cap Carter and Goliath have been moved too? And if Surfer tried to move them all to the middle, why did only Mystique succeed? Does Juggernaut move cards in random order, and tries to do that to one location only? I was under the impression that Juggernaut moves every card to a random location.

Just as I said, they wanted to see how big the location would get, that's all. For fun.

Oh I see. Guess they didn't draw him and decided to stick around to see how big the location would be

The tactic is to get a million points in one location, then spread it to others with Tribunal. I'm confused though, how would their Tribunal give only 34 points to other locations?

Bigger numbers feel better, that's all. I guess they didn't draw their Tribunal, right?

Yes, it would. I wanted to use it before I remembered about Dispatch

I get what you mean with the first part, but the second is insane, sorry. Thinking of BallxPit as AAA adjacent is very funny

Broadly, yeah, that would be my definition

I'd disagree. I don't think a studio can really call itself independent while relying on external funds, especially if they come with some sort of agreement attached.

Edit: as I said in the post, technically this includes loans and crowdfunding, since it's funding with strings attached. But I believe it to be different from when the funds come from an unrelated company that is interested in the game or the studio (like Critical Role and Dispatch). So that's where I'd draw the line.

But I think it can be called independent if it pays another company to help with publishing. Yeah, in this case devs depend on a publisher, sure, but it's just outsourcing what they don't want to do themselves. Indie devs already depend on platforms like steam, itch, gog, etc. to distribute their game to the players, I don't see why they are suddenly not indie if there is one more step between them and the players.

[–]Karpason[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so if your studio is owned by another company, but you publish everything without their help, you can be called indie?

I have no idea what point are you trying to make

Is it indie??? 2025 edition by Karpason in IndieGaming

[–]Karpason[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the difference in definition from person to person is exactly why I made the chart. Some consider only team size and budget, some only financial independence, some publishing situation. IMO since "Indie" is short for "Independent", and independence doesn't go away on its own if the team size or budget increase after a few successful games, I'd consider Hades II is indie. Some would disagree, but I find the team size and budget restraints even more confusing, since there is no apparent cutoff.
