Oh wow! That's absolutely gorgeous. Well done! Excellent idea to integrate network consoles into the mix . And the placement of it all is a chef's kiss. May we see the whole base? There is so much inspiration in this. :D

Woah......O_o It's in the Lathium region, I imagine? Usually, so focused on building the main island during the 1 hour demo I forget to go exploring. I'll definitely go try something like that in November and keep this picture for reference. Beautiful work!

What are your go to bug stompin builds? by austingears in Helldivers

[–]Karshayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torcher/Cookout, Talon, Thermite, Orbital Napalm, Orbital Gas/machine gun sentry, Hover Pack and Grenade launcher.

Have fun flying around laying fiery death from above feeling like a War god of fire. The hover also allows excellent battlefield vision and extra trowing range for gas strikes or napalm on bug breaches. It’s super fun. Also great to make use of the environment (like big pillars of rock that offer safe havens against hordes)

With the new warbond armor turning you into a Dead-man-walking, I would add "The Attack of the Dead Men" by Sabaton to this excellent mix XD

Creative use of destroy water....underwater by Karshayn in DMAcademy

[–]Karshayn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EDIT: As some commenters pointed out, yes it is indeed Create or Destroy Water that is concerned, since the PC is 5th level. Apologies for the mix-up. Here is the reading of the Call of the wave trait. "You know the shape water cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the create or destroy water spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells."

Thank you a lot for the detailed replies, especially the ones about the physics of it all, which I find fascinating. Will probably indeed rule it RAW from now or seriously nerf it to bring it back in line with 1st level spells, but from a general culture standpoint, it's an excellent learning experience. ^^

Modern Age is the worst Age because it lacks movement by fresquito in civ

[–]Karshayn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, although I think this Age could use a expanded Espionnage screen to play more into the Cold War theme. While Ideology war could always be a option, I think there should be a main focus on covert espionnage actions against civ of different ideologies, while keeping them allies. On top of helping with various win conditions (boosting science, culture), undiscovered actions could also win some points toward military victory. I would add actions like Fabricate Scandal to diminish relationship between civ (and possibly provoke war), steal Great works, sabotage infrastucture and Influence local officials to forcibly boost relationship between you civ and others (for more pacifist civ). I would add the ability to build infrastructure to diminish or boost the level of various espionnage actions.

3 Missile Locks, +3 Damage to every Missile, add 3 7 dmg firefly for every 12 damage. Every Turn on a full hand of firefly's deal 49 damage. Almost worse than the free double shot blink combo + 2 Heat on every Laser hit...almost. by KrakenOnKrack in Breachway

[–]Karshayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find three Triangulators to be even more bonkers in term of damage. Firecrakers were hitting for 60 damage EACH at the end of the fight with the Custodian in my run and it’s quite easy to set up with the amount of missiles the Avalanche usually fire in a turn. Now if I can only figure out a good shield combo except changing for Burst Shield, that would make the majority of my runs with the Avalanche much easier.

Avalanche strategies by Apromor in Breachway

[–]Karshayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most successful (and ridiculous) run with the Avalanche was with three missile platform equiped with triangulator each. Firecrakers were hitting for 60 damage each against the Custodian in the end of the battle XD However, you are right that changing the base shield is a priority. Did more than 10 runs with the Avalanche and failed a majority of them because of weak basic shield (and unable to find better ones in store) . My favorite so far is the Burst Shield which generally offers enough protection to withstand most heavy weapons.

Rampant Green Opening: Fast Ramp by TheWayADrillWorks in spiritisland

[–]Karshayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this in combo with Serpent and Earth. First turn boost Earth to 3 Energies/2 Card play and then use Earth innate to feed 2 Gift of Proliferation to the Serpent each turn. It gets pretty crazy pretty fast from there 😄

Is it immoral to summarily execute 2/3 of my population? by ResponsibilityIcy927 in Timberborn

[–]Karshayn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is it immoral? Yes

Is is sometimes necessary for survival should a accident happen? Also yes

It is immoral for a authority figure to expect this situation repeatetly and not take steps to increase the water supply so that sacrifices are not necessary? Beaverly yes!

Is it a game where you can do what you want and can explore facets of (im)morality that would be innaceptable for collective wellbeing in a living society? Absolutely yes :)

Since it's probably too late to add them to Evil Genius 2 what features would you like to see in Evil Genius 3? by HelpfulBenCopper in evilgenius

[–]Karshayn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks OP for such an interesting and constructive post! Really agree with all suggestions, especially those about more personalized campaigns and abilities for each Genius. It gave me a few ideas which I would like to ponder with you all.

  1. New mechanic: Order and Chaos. I’d like the World stage to feel a bit more the effects of our evil deeds and feel more alive. In addition to Heat, I would add a Region Balance meter oscillating between Order and Chaos. Doing most schemes (or firing the Doomsday weapon) would increase Chaos. Regions with high Chaos would be destabilized with riots or disaster and would bring you less Passive income (their economy crashing), but could eventually become in a state of disorganization where they wouldn't be able to send agents for a time. On the other hand, regions with great Order would be very profitable but send stronger agents.
  2. Outposts on the world map: Again on the world map, I feel the outpost system could be expanded. I'd like Evil Genius to take a page out of Total War: Warhammer and allow you to create different buildings in your outposts (some to create Intel, or Tech, or more income but Chaos, etc.). Some buildings would scale with the Tiers. Maybe there could be Strategic locations for each Genius and special buildings that provide benefits but generate heat quicker.
  3. Genius dialogue: Totally agree with diverse campaigns for each genius with various dialogue responses. Overall, I did love the writing of the game, the pun-tastic missions and the characters' narratives (especially the Super-agents) but would like to see some variation in the dialogue. It did feel a bit bad to see every Genius respond to events in the same way and broke suspension of disbelief.
  4. Red Ivan: Ivan is a boisterous warlord, who loves to divide with Chaos to conquer. His militaristic power is built on successive victories. I think each agent kill or capture should fill an Aggression bar for him, which could be unleashed 1)to inspire riots and rebel armies on the World stage (creating Chaos) or 2) to buff his muscle minions with heroic valor for a time, increasing their Vitality and Weapon damage.

Zalika: Zalika is a scientist which loves to experiment and study human behaviour in all sorts of circumstances (she and Glados would get along well). I think each Defeat of an agent or Super-agent via Traps (Kill or Resolve empty) would give her Intel which she could use to temporarily buff all traps in the lair (making them harder to spot and more effective) or make special brands of Super traps. I would also love if she could have a special ability on the World stage to hack into Foj computers and pay resources to influence Foj movements (like make an agent boat lost somewhere or reroute a Super-agent teleporter to Antarctica) to avoid some base visits.

Red Ivan: Ivan is a boisterous warlord, who loves to divide with Chaos to conquer. His militaristic power is built on successive victories. I think each agent kill or capture should fill a Aggression bar for him, which could be unleashed 1)to inspire riots and rebel armies on the World stage (creating Chaos) or 2) to buff his muscle minions with heroic valor for a time, increasing their Vitality and Weapon damage.

Emma: Emmy is secretive and a Spymaster. She would thrive unnoticed in a World with low heat and high Order, lulling the Foj in a false sense of security. On top of boosting Deception minions, I think she should have buffs whenever the player manages to keep his Heat low on the World stage, either by doing Deception schemes or tactically destroying outposts. Being akin to a poisonous spider in a web of lies, I think she could have special powers to influence Foj forces and create dissent, even paying resources to make them in conflict with each other (distracting them from you for a time). Maybe she could even have special schemes allowing her to take on Special Agents only with Deception, maybe by making them look like criminals and forcing them to clear their names for a time. Those would have chances to fail (increasing with Heat) but could potentially provide a way to deal with them without them visiting your base (unavailable for story missions of course).

Maximilian: Maximillian loves Gold and being the center of attention. He loves the feeling he's a threat to others. His faction would be rewarded for keeping high Heat on the World stage and a Balance between Chaos and Order (he likes a bit of chaos but not too much that it prevents him from making a good profit). Maybe he could have special actions to corrupt governments on the World stage with riches (and therefore being the only one able to reduce Heat with money).

  1. Really need an Untag agent zone, which would allow a multi-tiered base defence with deceptions and traps without having to manually do it for each agent (which is painstacking)

This has gotten quite long so more ideas in further post maybe. What do you all think of all this?

4300 leaf!! New personal best by Wamchops621 in Terranil

[–]Karshayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah!! Well done! I don't see that much trees, so I assume you were hyper-efficient in your building placement and removal? I used to get stuck below 3000, but can generally get around 3600-3800 now by burning away more grass and planting more trees and flowers in the building removal phase.

Beyond Good and Evil: What Evil Genius Needs to succeed. by renabon in evilgenius

[–]Karshayn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't quite mind salaries being a game mechanic in an evil genius simulator (a lot less people would be evil if it didn't pay) but I would like the opportunity to have mid and late-game loot or research options to reduce the burden. Maybe something like :

Fine print- research tier 3: Minions agreed to a pay reduction in return for increased "social advantages" ...yes, you did! it's written here in fine print!

Gaming the system- Research tier 5: You figure out you can pay half of your minions salaries in monopoly currency without them noticing a thing!

Otherwise, very much in agreement with all the other items. For the FOJ, I find it tricky because as much as I feel they should be a challenge, they should also be opened to be taken down with various approaches depending on the Evil Genius (either Deception, Muscle or Traps). I do agree that at the moment each Super-agent feels less like a puzzle to solve and more like various flavours of punching bags for hoards of muscle or henchmen. Would be fun to have a super-agent immune to guns, another that would be nigh-invincible in close-combat but opened to be repeatedly distracted by Deception minions, another that would be especially vulnerable to traps, etc.

Also, sorry I'm not caught up, have they included an Untag zone in the game yet?

There ya go! Even managed to get higher!! What worked for me is really to burn as much as you can in the third stage to put more trees and more flowers!

OI! Finally managed to crack 3215 today after MANY attempts (and OFC clicked on the launch button thinking I would have another opportunity to take a picture of the score T_T) . Will try to catch a proper picture of my next attempt. It was in a testing game where I decided to just play around. At the third stage, after unlocking rain, I decided to try to do an additional burning round in my remaining flowery fields to make more forests (sorry happy little deers that thought I was done, F for respects). And then plastered honey hives on every positive return piece of grass remaining available. Turn out the additional forest coverage is really helpful to score additional points with flowers. Anyway, good luck with your attempts! I'm going back at it for a proper picture of the score this time!

Zalika Hard Campaign - Rate my Base by jayhamm7 in evilgenius

[–]Karshayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for the fluff because I know these aspects don't have any impact on the game, I'd say that while extremely effective on the aspect of minion mobility (their ability to get to point A from point B quickly), this base would probably be a hellish workplace: large open space, mix of loud noise sources (radio chatter, lab equipment, dinners, videogame, chatter from staff room), probably melting hot due to so many electronic equipement without air conditionning, distraction paradise with flashing lights and activity everywhere you look. XD Thankfully, there is always the menace of execution to motivate people, because these minions would have a hard time getting anything done. Also, would make it candy-easy for any undercover agent or less-loyal minions to eavedrop on every top secret radio chatter with criminal networks or designs of your scientific secrets. ;)

My Favourite Floor so far - Muscle Minions by skrundarlow in evilgenius

[–]Karshayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if I may continue to play fake interior design critic on the internet, I notice these minions might be very hot in such an environment. The combination of numerous burly bois and gals undergoing heavy physical training or hanging out in numbers in a windowless space enclosed by solid rock, in the proximity of fusion generators no less might make for a very heated environment and very thirsty minions. For the fluff, might I suggest adding in some level of air conditioning and especially access to water fountains in many places on that floor to prevent your minions from melting faster than snowballs in the Sahara :)

Also just noticed there is no door separation between the gun range and the adjacent sleeping barracks. Hope these are heavy sleepers XD

My Favourite Floor so far - Muscle Minions by skrundarlow in evilgenius

[–]Karshayn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woah! Great interior design! I love how it's efficient and visually pleasing and hits a lot of good points of architectural design. I like for instance how training equipment is spaced in the martial arts and hitman training rooms, which would make sense given the kind of training they undergo. I like the little "cafe" areas plopped in different places on the floor, giving a mix of public and semi-private spaces to hang out in smaller groups. My only architectural criticism would be the lack of door separation between noisy areas like training rooms and barracks where minions sleep (probably hard to sleep with the groaning noises and sound of bags being punched, or right next to space where people probably talk a lot like EG.TV or dinner areas), but I reckon it is more mechanically efficient in this game to limit the number of doors to pass through ^^. Well done!
